The music video has taken on a new role and purpose in the hip-hop zeitgeist. In the current high-paced, disposable media landscape, videos have shifted away from the big-budget, atypical events they had developed into over the course of the prior two decades. You don’t need an accomplished director, a six-figure budget, or tropical backdrop to create an acclaimed rap video these days. Eminem releases the official tracklisting for upcoming Marshall Mathers LP 2. Marshall looks to be keeping it relatively light with the guest spots on this one, with King Kendrick being the only rap feature on the project. Those in the know realize that Law & Order: SVU is the most superior brand of crime drama on television today. I mean they have Ice T playing a wise cracking cop — this Ice T — and all of the stories are ‘ripped from the headlines.’ Well, SVU made a bold move last night by airing an episode based on Chris Brown’s assault on Rihanna.
