After being deemed Princess of the Roc back in 2005, Teairra Marie fell off he throne pretty damn quick. Well anyway it looks like homegirl is back looking for her second shot at stardom and where better to start than King mag. Maybe she is joining the ever growing line of ‘video vixens,’ but I doubt it as she is now signed to Interscope and has new management in the way of Fo’Reel Ent. (original name there…gotta love it) who basically have directed the career of Nelly. Her album is said to be dropping top of 2009 with a who’s who in production providing the Detroit gal some serious beats.
If it isn’t raining then it is certainly pouring in the world of Damon Dash right now. With two properties close to foreclosure, the brain behind the Roc in the early days has just recently lost his deal with Pro Keds. dash was brought on board to give the sneaker line a new face lift back in 2004 but now the company has decided to take the sneaker which turns 60 this year in a new direction and unfortunately Dame isn’t part of that.
“It was just a matter of timing,” said Stride Rite spokeswoman Debra Fernandez. “We just wanted a new direction,” she went on to explain. Since the highly publicized split from Rocafella in 2004 Dame Dash has never really had the success he had when he was throwing up the Roc thats for sure.
No wonder this dude is looking so smug nowadays…word on the street is that Jigga is about to make himself a $44 million when he sells a 50% stake of his Las Vegas 40/40 club to the Las Vegas Sands Corp which owns a slew of hotels across the world including The Venetian in Vegas. Looks like Jay is cashing in his chips…wonder what he will be up to next. The deal would give the Sands Corp the right to build 40/40 in London and throughout Europe, where Jay was looking to spread his wings too next.
A couple days ago, I mentioned Freeway had just leaked a new freestyle over an old Ray Cash beat, and Free is right back at it. There are rumors floating around that Free is prepping a new album called Freedom of Speech, so all of these leaks are starting to make sense. Free is definitely consistent with his flow and uses his raspy voice to its fullest value. Check out a new track from Free, “Will I Ever Be,” below.
