Not even prison will slow down the 17-year-old internet sensation’s furious rise.

Social media’s societal governance has introduced a host of alternative fame-inducing opportunities. Prior to its stronghold, artists relied on more traditional means to achieve stardom: radio play and established artist co-signs, for instance. Now, artists don’t require a Hot 97 endorsement to occupy the limelight—they just need some Internet buzz.

17-year-old Texas rapper, Tay-K 47, is amongst the most recent individuals to adhere to this seismic trend. Initially achieving SoundCloud notoriety dating back to 2015, Tay-K has supplemented his reputation through numerous criminal charges—most recently though a murder conviction. This infamy coupled with his +18 million-viewed track, “The Race”, have coalesced to position him atop Hip Hop’s most polarizing characters. Other artists have taken notice as well.

Lil Yachty, XXXtentacion, Lil Bibby, Trill Sammy, and Rico Recklezz, to name several, have all remixed his viral “The Race” hit, indirectly co-signing the young rapper. Now, despite being detained, Tay-K continues to bolster his rise through releasing new music.

Over the past few days, two new Tay-K tracks have surfaced online, “22 Shots” and “Lay Low”.  The menacing tracks assert his maliciousness and penchant for crime. While lines like “22 shots n***a all at your toupee,” strengthen his felonious persona, they certainly don’t make mitigate his lawyer’s duties. His street cred and authenticity aren’t in question, but if the divisive upstart wants to become a fixture instead of a fad, he might want to avoid issuing potentially incriminating songs.

Listen to the two new tracks below, and be sure to stay updated on the legal storm surrounding Tay-K 47.
