Some good news for Tekashi.

It’s well known that Tekashi 6ix9ine is embroiled in the legal battle of his life, but, ironically, this incarceration and indictment have just made the rainbow-haired rapper even more polarizing, thus that much more popular. Numbers never lie, and these ones are presenting one resounding truth: Tekashi’s fame has risen to perennial pop-star status.

His official debut album, DUMMY BOY, was originally scheduled for a Black Friday release, Friday 23rd, but amid his legal situation, it was decided that they would push the album back. The album leaked soon after, proliferating to the masses, effectively tarnishing Tekashi’s chance at respectable first week numbers given the early listening. Ultimately, DUMMY BOY dropped on Tuesday, November 27th, allowing it only two-days to gross sales for the week ending on November 29th. A death sentence for most, but with Tekashi, it’s always a different story.

With only two-days to gross sales, DUMMY BOY came in at number-two on Billboard 200, coming in second to Travis Scott’s Astroworld. The album pushed 65,598 units, 10,137 coming from pure album sales, making it the “GUMMO” rapper’s highest-charting album to date.

Although Tekashi’s legal remains uncertain, bordering unhopeful, his starpower only seems to rise.
