Two of NY’s most prominent and legendary hip hop powerhouses Dipset and Roc-A-Fella are both experiencing the same turmoil of splitting and falling apart. Although both fell apart a few years ago, now the reasons and conflicts behind these splits are emerging and everyone’s got their side to the story.
Beanie is trying to put Jay-Z and Dame Dash on blast for the destruction of one of hip hops most powerful forces Roc-A-Fella, which dominated every part of the industry from a label to clothing, movies and more.
With the success and doors that Roc-A-Fella opened came the Dipset movement, which took NY hip hop by storm and put Harlem on the map across the world. However like Roc-A-Fella, it was also brought down by the very people who created it, Cam’ron and Jim Jones, who now feud over whether the crew should be united.
Both Roc-A-Fella and Dipset were created by friends who had known each other far before fame and considered each other family, but as Biggie would say with more money comes more problems. With success and fame, the families were broken apart over meaningless squabbles and of course the money.
Although torn apart, indiviuals achieved their own success and careers such as Cam, Jimmy, Beanie and as we all know Jay-Z. With the demise of these dynasties, some people, who were just the innocent bystanders in the corruption, got left in the dust and had to fend for themselves. Such bystanders include both Freeway and Freekey Zeekey.
Freeway has maintained success as an artist and is still making his paper with this rap sh**, can’t really say the same for Freekey, but the game can’t be good to us all.
Both have dropped tracks explaining how they feel on the current feuds playing out between their former recording families. Freeway dropped his track “Love Is A Battlefield” where he spits:
” We ate our lil’ food did the dishes cleaned the plates up/ You was eatin’ steak we was eatin’ steak-ums/ But I never complained backed you up and tipped the waiter.”
“People want me to get into detail bout Jay-Z and Beanie Sigel/ We shall proceed/ Wanna know if I’m ridin’ with Beanie do I got different feelings on the DL?/ We shall see”
“What if the brothers never broke up and foul words was never spoke up/Would that diamond still stay up”
Freekey Zeekey dropped his track “Live It Luv It” where he spits:
“Jim & Cam started fighting/Killa had some shiesty contracts and Jim was stealing the money/ Kept it quiet didn’t say nothing/ Then me & Juelz got hit like we was Joe Buddens”
With great success must come great failure and that’s exactly what went down in these cases, unfortunately it happened to both of them. The truth continues to unravel as everyone says their piece and we continue to watch as the already collapsed continues to crumble.
