In this issue of The Come Up, we take it back to one of the boroughs that revolutionized Hip-Hop as it’s known today; Brooklyn. Originally hailing from New Jersey, Hired Gun brought his brand of insightful lyricism to the New York area in 2000 and through perseverance managed to get the nod from URB Magazine when they listed him in their 2009 edition of the Next 100. Hired Gun spits as one third of the group 3rd Party and frequently critiques politics as evident from his track “Arrest the President” in which he rips into George W. Aside from emceeing, Gun mentors and teaches children art through UrbanArtBeat and works as the co-founder of Say Word Entertainment to promote concerts. Be on the lookout for Hired Gun’s latest project, The People’s Verses and check out his iHipHop player to preview some of these bangers.
