The Dose

Editor:  As always all songs are available for download by clicking on the artists name in the “Featured Audio” section.

I’m a HUGE fan of this track.  Killer Mike is one of the more under-appreciated rappers out there.  This track is also produced by Flying Lotus, a dude I f*ck with heavy on the electronic side of music.  This track is a great example of where I think hip-hop is moving towards in the future.  Teaming electronic producers and lyricists together to create great new music.  This track is off Killer Mikes Pledge Allegiance To The Grind 3.

Killer Mike ft D-Rock “Swimming”

This track is pretty hot.  I’m not always a huge fan of female emcees, but this is pretty nice.  Eternia and MoSS are joined by Rah Digga & Rage for this joint.  Eternia & MoSS drop their album “At Last” on June 29th.

Eternia & MoSS ft Rah Digga & Rage “The BBQ”

Slum Village is pretty dope.  I like that they are constantly changing up there sound.  They can’t be completely nailed down.  This track is much more poppy than I usually like but it has a great feature from Colin Munroe.  Their “Villa Manifesto LP” drops soon.

Slum Village ft Colin Munroe “Faster”

Ab-Soul is an upcoming emcee that truly defines the word.  He has an album dropping soon called “The LongTerm2” that I’m really looking forward to.  Check this cut off of the album.

Ab-Soul ft Jay Rock “Lifestyle”

Smoke DZA enjoys weed.  He also enjoys dope beats because he doesn’t seem to pick bad ones.  As someone who has enjoyed a Sour Hour, I whole-heartedly endorse this track.   Cop at least an oz., roll up, and press play and enjoy a sour hour yourself.

Smoke DZA “Sour Hour”

Necro is not an easily appreciated rapper, I’ll admit that.  His voice is rough most of the time and he talks about some really weird sh*t.  I still f*ck with him because the dude is a serious producer.  He makes 100% of his own beats, and has placements as a producers with some very well known names.  Most recently he did the track “Gihad” for Raekwons, “Only Built For Cuban Linx II.”  Oh, and did I mention Necro gave Rae the beat FOR FREE just out of the love of music……lets see Kanye give a beat away for “the love.”  Haters can now begin talking sh*t.  Necro’s newest album “DIE!” is out now.

Necro “Thugcore”

The Roots, as always produce great music.  This new track, off their June 22nd release “How I Got Over” is great, especially because it’s incorporating John Legend.  I’m also pretty sure Black Thought’s verse is the same as his BET Cypher verse, but I’m not mad at that cause it was and is a dope verse.  Show love for one of hip-hops most consistent groups.

The Roots ft John Legend “Doin’ It Again”

I do not like Chingy, but I’m gonna show some love anyway and try not to be a huge hater.  This track is as close to cookie-cutter rap as they come but whatever, I’m trying to not hate ALL the time.   “Success & Failure,” his new album, drops June 22nd.

Chingy ft Lil Flip “Anythang”

Bow Wow “stunts all day” according to this song.  If he insists…  I can’t hate on Bow Wow as he’s been around for a REALLY long time and even managed to move on from be “Lil’ Bow Wow” and from the allegations that he was raped by his bodyguard, all while improving his brand. For these reasons alone I will give him a pass.  Stunt on Bow Wow, you’ve earned it.

Bow Wow “On Fire”

Shiest Bubz comes with a pretty dope track courtesy of one of my favorite up-and-coming producers Araabmuzik.

Shiest Bubz “Senseless World”

The Travis Porter phenomenon continues with this track. If you haven’t yet you should download their mixtape Proud To Be A Problem.

Travis Porter “Over Again”
