One of the most sought-after producers in the game may be pondering retirement. Timbaland (born Timothy Mosley) has alluded to thoughts of “throwing in the towel” several times. The latest came during an interview with Times Online.

“I don’t need to do anything for money,” says Timbaland. “I’m just glad to have a job. But music is boring right now. I’m too innovative for the world. I’ve been doing it so long, I’m about to throw in the towel.”

But Timbo isn’t ready to bounce without passing the torch to Danjahandz. “I’m about to decrown myself and pass it over to one of the up-and-coming producers under me,” continues the Virginia-bred sound architect. “They won’t be able to be me – there’s only one Timbaland – but there’s a certain sound that I try to teach.”

  1. The industry needs good and creative music. Timbaland seems to have a pretty good track record when it comes down to making hits, reinventing artist, increasing album sales of everyone around him. Pharrell is good but theres only 2 producers in the game that have it on lock Dr Dre and Timbaland.
