So we all know what it is at this point.  T.I. f*cked up.  He dealt with a humilating and public arrest, and then sentenced to serve an additional 11 months in Federal prison even though he ended up not being charged with any thing for his LA arrest.  His sponsors (Axe Body Spray & Remy Martin Cognac) are abondoing him.

So what is Tip’s next move?  He started by changing the name of his album from King Uncaged to No Mercy, which he announced on the Rickey Smiley Show.

To be honest I think some good can come of all this f*ckery.  T.I. has always been one of my favorite rappers.  My only beef with him as of late is that he has become a little to mainstream and commercialized.  Much like what is happening to Gucci Mane right now.

T.I. became a full fledged star.  He became pre-disposed with getting features from the likes of Rihanna & Justin Timberlake.  Worrying about keeping his image clean for his sponsors, and even maintaining his burgeoning movie career.

Basically he had tons of stuff on his plate.  T.I. had evolved from being just a rapper into something bigger.  He had become a brand.  He was a figure head and a movie star, and with that came more responsibility which consumed the majority of his time.

However, now that the movies and the sponsorship deals are on hold T.I. can finally get back to what started everything.  His rapping.  I think now more than ever Tip needs to be pleasing the people who have been supporting him from the jump.  We don’t need cutesey songs featuring Keri Hilson.  We need Tip hollering at Young Dro to do some Bankhead ish.  I want to see names like Jeezy, Bun B, and 8Ball & MJG in the mix.  I want to see some Cadillacs and/or Chevy’s on blades with trashy broads shaking their a$$ in the background.

Tip needs to go back to what he used to be, so that he can come back better than ever.  He has the opportunity to draw a line in the sand and figure out who is really on his team.  While this is is a situation filled with adversity, it’s a also a situation that could possibly lead to his redemption.  Sometimes we expect our artists to overcome obstacles to re-earn our respect.  Word to Chris Brown.  Cause at the end of the day, when Tip drops that line in the sand…I’m crossing over to his side.

Also check this new joint featuring Rocko, which is already a step in the right direction.
