Next time you hear Akon’s signature "Konvict muuziiik" it will most likely be on an R&B track. TLC singer Rozanda "Chilli" Thomas has signed a deal with Akon’s Konvict Muzik label, where she’ll release her solo debut in 2007. A distribution deal via Interscope is also in place, according to Billboard magazine. Akon told Billboard that he wants the world to reconnect with Chilli, who he described as an incredible artist. Joining Akon in the production department are certified hit-makers Timbaland, will.i.am, and Missy Elliott.
The untimely death of TLC member/rapper Lisa "Left-Eye" Lopes, in 2002, brought the trio’s career to a partial halt. The surviving members T-Boz and Chilli managed to release one album, 3D, in the absence of Left Eye.
