Trippie isn’t mincing words.

Hip-hop’s new generation has been a colorful, polarizing rollercoaster that has received more criticism than its predecessors. Magnified by social media’s “unifying” effect, artists’ lives are more exposed than ever before, leaving them vulnerable to severe, unjust criticism. Ironically however, most of the hate surrounding this culture lately hasn’t been from spectators–it’s been from two of its biggest players: Tekashi 6ix9ine and Trippie Redd.

A classic case of friends becoming enemies, two artists who once collaborated on the wildly successful “Poles 1469” have been at each other’s throats (digitally speaking) recently over matters like who is more successful, who has more clout, who’s more popular, etc. Now, another focal member of this new generation, Xxxtentacion, has been dragged into the mix.

Taking to Instagram live, Trippie Redd called X a fraud and 6ix9ine a pedophile repeatedly. However, one of the harsher jabs emanated from Trippie claiming that X’s style is simply a counterfeited conflation of Redd and Ski Mask’s flows. After, Trippie went onto to eviscerate Tekashi by saying, “Your whole career is off touching 13-year-olds,” Trippie said. “You fuckin’ pedophile. You is a pussy, nigga. You a bitch, nigga. You touch little girls, nigga … And he only got famous because I brought it up … I made a video and said, ‘I don’t fuck with that nigga ’cause he’s a pedophile, nigga. Period.’ Then you as a person being smart, you went and did skits and tried to hide the fact. And made it seem like you the victim. You wasn’t the victim, nigga. That little girl’s a victim.”

Knowing both Tekashi and X, they will offer some sort of social media retaliation. As for now, the beef wheel keeps spinning.
