Tyler, The Creator Drops a Melancholic Freestyle, “ZIPLOC”

Tyler is becoming more and more of an artist–in every sense of the word.

Tyler, The Creator enjoyed huge first week numbers for his most recent album release, Flower Boy. Vibrant melodies clashed with melancholic tracks to deepen Tyler’s eccentric aesthetic, and widen the gap between him and the competition. Beautiful production and composition, paired with thought-provoking lyricism, made Flower Boy one of Tyler’s best complete body of works in a deep catalogue of cohesive albums. I guess the critical and fan acclaim he received for this project wasn’t enough, because Tyler is already back with more.

Today, the Odd Future leader released a 1:34 freestyle, “ZIPLOC”, laced over Jay Z and No I.D.’s “4:44” instrumental. Cries for help cascading over his stubborn depression find Tyler conflicted between his saddened, empty life and triumphant career milestones. He’s well-aware of how successful he’s become; almost as aware he is of the suffocating loneliness strangling him. “ZIPLOC” finds Tyler coming to grips with success, and struggling to accept that success as reality.

We have here a man using his burning pain to create beautiful music. Listen to the saddened tale below:
