Wyclef Jean is carried by fans in Cite Soleil, Haiti’s most notorious gang-infested slum, Thursday, March, 2, 2006. Jean and his group refused UN military protection, relying on his popularity to keep them safe. “I am putting myself in the frontline because I want that change to happen,” Jean explains. He wants aid groups to restart work in the embattled area. “We tell you that the guys are willing to put down their guns,” he says.
