Last night at the 2017 BET Awards, honors were handed down to the most deserving emcees in a variety of categories. Kendrick took home best album, Cardi B was awarded best artist; but one of the ceremony’s shining moments—aside from Eminem verbally dismantling Donald Trump—were the cyphers. The last participants turned the most heads, as they included names like Tee Grizzley and 6LACK.
Exchanging verses over DJ Premiere-scratched beats, Little Simz, Mysonne, Axel Leon joined Tee and 6LACK in the Sprite-presented cypher to offer their two cents on ranging issues. While they each harbor differing styles, they molded their flows to adequately fit the retro-sounding production.
