MTV Is Still Trying To Defend Themselves
One of these MTV nobodies recently came out and tried to defend some of the backlash they’ve been receiving ever since they released this “Hottest MC’s In The Game” list. MTV writer Shaheem Reid explains that the Top 10 MC’s list was not meant to diss any artists who didn’t make the cut. According to Reid, fans should keep in mind that the list is just an opinion-based list, not an official ranking, obviously. This guy says:
“The list is worldwide and that’s just what we wanted to do, man. Every year we do the list, it’s our personal opinions collectively at the table, and a lot of people chime in, fans across the board from all over the world… It’s great that we have a platform where we can talk about hip-hop from people like Drake that doesn’t even have an album out, people like Jay-Z — people like Raekwon the Chef who is a legend coming back. It’s about hip-hop — we love all the feedback, negative, positive, we just like to have the conversation…When you do a list like that, it’s no right, it’s no wrong. It’s just opinion-based…We not trying to diss anybody, I love the dialog.”
It may be opinion based, but your opinion sucks. I think the reason people are holding such a high stake in this “list” is because it’s MTV, you know MUSIC TELEVISION, a place where good music is supposed to get acknowledged, but instead it’s become a mockery of what good music stands for. We don’t care about this list anymore MTV, it lost all credibility not that it had any before, but we’ve moved on and so should you.
What’s T.I. Up To in Prison?
Tameka “Tiny” Cottle, the long-time girlfriend of rapper T.I. has recently given an update on the Grand Hustle leader and what exactly he’s up to while serving his debt to society. T.I. turned himself in back in May and according to “Tiny” she’s been visiting with him every weekend, she says:
“He’s doing good. He’s passing the time by working out and just doing things they do inside, you know. He’s playing handball and things like that. I go see him every Sunday, sometimes on Mondays. We talk everyday. He gets emails, working out and doing things like that so he’s busy in there. He has a full schedule. I talk to him about a little of everything, just things going on. He hears things and we talk about it. He wants me to stay out the way, me being out of harm’s way. I know it’s a lot of crazy things going on so I try to stay in as much as possible because I don’t have him here. So I come out only when it’s necessary. I stay out the way.”
How one has a full schedule in jail is questionable to me, but at least Tip is doing well and making the most out of his time there. However locked up or not, he’s still selling records and sold 2,900 copies of “Paper Trail” in this weeks sales. (Which is the same amount as Fat Joe’s “J.O.S.E. II” that debuted last week…)
