You know what I just realized?  On September 28th T.I.’s King Uncaged, Young Jeezy’s Thug Motivation 103 & Gucci Mane’s The Appeal are all dropping.  That is absolutely insane to me.  Because I’m pretty sure all three guys consider themselves to be the “king” of Atlanta.  There is going to be a lot of ego to maintain during that week.

Plus are album sales even an indication of relevancy in 2010?  Tip is going to be able to ship the most units to retail, followed by Jeezy and lastly Gucci.  This is important because half the battle of the physical sales game (ie actually plastic compact discs) is convincing the retailers to take the amount of units you want them to take.

Plus Tip is probably going to get the most marketing dollars since he had a bunch of crossover hits on his last album Paper Trail.  Not to mention Tip is the poster boy for Lyor‘s tenure at Warner so he always gives him good looks.  Everyone loves Jeezy, but his music has fallen off, but the people who actually pay for music probably haven’t realized that yet.  Plus I think Gucci is the most relevant of these artist to the “culture” of hip-hop right now, but the “culture” of hip hop consists of rap nerds who steal music on the internet.

So what does that mean as far as sales go?  I have no idea to be honest.  I think Tip will sell the most, Jeezy will come in second, and unfortunately Gucci Gucc may come in third.  I think American pop culture will give Tip’s album the best look, but Gucci will be bumped the most in “the streets”.  What do you think?

  1. The kings of the A are Andre 3000 and Big Boi, The princes are Ludacris, T.I., Jeezy, and Gucci Mane

  2. Your article is sufficent in all aspects and acurate as well, but i do not beileve Young Jeezy will sell more than Gucci. Ever since they squashed the beef who's been putting out the bangers Gucci. And your wrong if you think Urban America won't support Gucci 1000%.
