Wyclef Jean was lending a helping hand this past weekend to his homeland after Hurricane Ike left Haiti’s cities and towns devastated and tens of thousands left homeless.  The former Fugee member was made an Ambassador to the poverty stricken island in January of 2007 and has since been deeply involved in encouraging aid and assistance to the impoverished island. His Yele Haiti foundation has granted scholarships to thousands of Haitian school kids and has also brought Yele Haiti together with the UN World Food Programme and the Pan American Development Foundation to provide resources for other programs in effect on the island.Assisting Wycelf this weekend was Hollywood actor Matt Damon  in the town of Cabaret where 60 people lost their lives to flash flooding. The two handed out rice, oil and beans to those who survived. Jean and Damon also made an appeal to those who are able to help the UN raise $100 million which is required for food and medical supplies to help the struggling island to attempt to get back to some sort of normality.
