SamYoung Guru, Jay-Z’s engineer, goes in on Major Labels. I disagree with his perspective on 360 deals. However, I co-sign his point that artist need to become entrepreneurs, and stop looking for a hand out from the record companies. Plus Guru hits the nail on the head with the fact that it is a business. These record companies are there to make money. So whatever makes them money, that is what they are going to f*ck with. Guru also makes the point that I have been making forever. There is so called “real” and “progressive” music out there. But people aren’t supporting it on a monetary level. So guess what? None of these companies are going to invest in those types of artists. You get what you pay for. That’s called life. Just watch the clip. Learn a thing or two about a thing or two.
