From relative obscurity to a trending household name, NBA YoungBoy has impressively climbed Hip Hop’s ranks over the last 18-months or so. His 2016 project, 38 Baby, home to hits like “38 Baby”, was well-received, and his latest project, AI YoungBoy, strongly followed suit. He’s also strung together impressive features, from fellow upcoming artists like OMB Peezy, to established MCs like Plies. Yesterday, he returned with his newest single, “War With Us”.
The Dubba-AA-produced track features YoungBoy in his typical vocal outfit: melodically sung raps with an authentic grit. In keeping with his style, “War With Us” discusses his tumultuous adolescent surroundings, and how they inform his current being. He’s witnessed a lot, but he’s survived his circumstances to speak about it.
NBA YoungBoy is preparing to head on tour with 21 Savage next month, which should make for some entertaining shows.
