By Quibian Salazar-Moreno The war on hip-hop has mostly stayed on the content of rappers’ lyrics, but now it’s moving towards how hip-hop heads are wearing their clothes. According to a CNN news story a small Louisiana town, Delcambre, has made a new law where people sagging their pants low enough to expose their underwear or bare buttocks could face a $500 fine and six months in jail. The idea became so popular that cities like Atlanta and Trenton, New Jersey are looking to add a similar law in their cities. The cities are also looking at it as a way to help at-risk youth get on the right path. "Are they employed? Do they have a high school diploma? It’s a wonderful way to redirect at that point," Trenton Councilwoman Annette Lartigue, who is drafting a law to outlaw saggy pants, told CNN. "The message is clear: We don’t want to see your backside." The style of sagging pants was believed to start in prison. Back in the day prisoners were not given belts to hold their prison-issued pants up for fear of suicide or use as a weapon. The style came out the prisons and into the hip-hop world in the 80’s and has been here ever since. Hopefully they’ll fine those plumbers that expose their backsides too.

Kanye West’s “Graduation” is the #1 album in the country selling 957,000 copies in its first week according to Billboard. 50 Cent grabs the #2 spot on the charts selling 691,000 copies and country star Kenny Chesney is at #3 selling 387,000 copies. To put things in perspective, when Talib Kweli was #2 on the charts in August, he only moved 60,000 copies. This week’s album sales are the largest the industry has seen in two years and Kanye’s album sales is the largest by any album since 50 Cent’s The Massacre dropped in 2005, moving 1.1 million copies in its first week. Kanye’s album also set a new record for digital downloads by selling 133,000 digital album downloads beating the old record of 102,000 by Maroon 5. 50 Cent’s album only had 58,000 digital album sales this week. To add insult to injury, Kanye is also #1 on the U.K. charts and 50 is #2. 50 Cent is already crying foul with the numbers though. In an interview with the LA Times, 50 said Def Jam, Kanye’s label, isn’t playing fair. "I think the perception on some levels would be that Kanye West is generating more interest than 50 Cent regardless of actual record sales," 50 said. "He’s never had a fraction of the sales 50 Cent has. So when you see him come out and it’s like they were close? They could have one scan and have it count four times." But in the same LA Times story, Billboard’s director of charts Geoff Mayfield that there are safeguards in place that prevent market rigging so it’ll hardly be the case. "The problem is, you’re spending real money to post an artificial sale," Mayfield said. "I don’t know of a single instance where someone paid to make an album look bigger and it ended up becoming a bigger hit."

By: Rizoh Diddy has agreed to edit his Unforgivable Woman commercial, which MTV deemed too saucy for TV. A spokesman for Sean John Fragrances, Hampton Carney, told E! Network that Diddy made nine edits so far to the clip. “Yes, they have made some edits, and they’re airing the commercials. But he still feels there’s going to be some back and forth, because he wants more of his version of the ad edited into the commercial,” said Carney. The Unforgivable ad shows Diddy in a stairwell and hotel room hiking up a model Jessica Gomes’ skirt and putting his hands underneath her dress. Sean John’s Unforgivable Woman’s suggested retail price is $55 USD for the 2.5 ounces and $75 USD for the 4.2 ounce bottle.

Diddy is still refusing to edit the add, so he’s releasing the long-form commercial himself through his MySpace page. "I feel strongly that this movie needs to be viewed and judged by the public rather than by executives,” Diddy said in a statement. “Some people may be uncomfortable with the sensuality and sexual content, but it is important for them to make that decision personally. Since we launched the Sean John brand 10 years ago, we have taken chances and done many non-traditional things. By Quibian Salazar-Moreno Since Queen Latifah hasn’t released a hip-hop album since 1998’s “Order in the Court” and her last and current albums feature her singing old jazz and blues covers, most fans considered her rap career pretty much done. But in an interview with Billboard, she said that she still has some joints in the chamber. "I’d love to make another rap album," Latifah told Billboard.com. "I have some music I’ve already been working on. But everything has to have its proper place; I don’t really want to drop the rap album while (‘Trav’lin’ Light’) is out. I really want to respect every genre for what it is, and I’d prefer to record a rap album and be out there promoting it.” She also said that there are plenty of things to talk about and fans could expect the Latifah they know and love from the 90’s. ‘I’ve always been sort of socially conscious," she said. "For me it’s always about mixing some sort of topic with a hot beat and a good hook. Every record’s not gonna be a message record; there’ll be a good mix of party records and content records mixed with some hot music. I think there’s a bunch of rap heads and hip-hop lovers who are my age. They just want good music that’s not shallow. They really want more from their music. Nobody’s really filled my shoes yet. There’s still room for me to do my thing." Latifah is still doing the movie thing however. Later this year she will narrate, “The Perfect Holiday,” a Christmas story that stars Morris Chestnut, Gabrielle Union, Terrence Howard and Charlie Murphy. Latifah will also star in the comedy “Mad Money,” alongside Katie Holmes, Diane Keaton, and Ted Danson in 2008.

The “Usher He” line includes cologne, aftershave, shower gel and deodorant while the “Usher She” line includes perfume, body cream, lotion, and wash. "I’ve been thinking about [doing] millions of things: watches, jewelry, lingerie, clothing, jeans, caps, home furnishings; but I can only do one thing at a time,” Usher told the Atlanta Journal Constitution. "And from the juice, to the bottle, to the carry, the delivery, the amount, the graphics, the photos, the presentation, the literature, everything– I was 100 percent involved in this fragrance. In order to get the juice, you have to pull off my ring [which serves as the cap]. … I figured if people like you, they want to buy into every bit of you and who you are." So if you want to smell like Usher, the collections start at $300 for the full packages. They will be available at all Macy stores this fall.

The rapper will be headlining Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim Tour which will hit the nation’s colleges and universities. The tour begins on October 1 at State University of New York in Albany, NY and will run until October 19, ending at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, NM. Joining Ghost on the tour is Witchdoctor, who’s worked extensively with Dungeon Family cats Outkast, Goodie Mob and Organized Noize. Withdoctor released his debut album, “A.S.W.A.T.
