It probably sucks to be Brandy Norwood right now. Just last Christmas the 28-year old R&B crooner was involved in a car crash that claimed the life of another driver. Now she’s being replaced by 54-year old Sharon Osbourne (remember her from The Osbournes?) as a judge on NBC’s America’s Got Talent.
NBC did not cite the reason for Brandy’s exit. But word has it that her involvement in two wrongful death lawsuits facing her as a result of that December accident that left a 38-year-old woman dead may have contributed.
“Brandy has enjoyed her association with the program. However, she felt she couldn’t give the new season the attention and commitment it deserved,” said a statement released by NBC.
Sharon Osbourne joins returning judges David Hasselhoff and Piers Morgan.

In the early 90’s Quik and AMG were inseparable. AMG was featured on Quik’s projects and Quik produced AMG’s debut album “B**** Betta Have My Money.” But in the late 90’s, the two butted heads and Quik eventually cut off AMG like a red-headed step-child.
“That’s natural when you have brothers and you have people and you go through growing pains and you don’t really have any mentors or guidance on how to grow up successful and keep your ego in check,” Quik told HipHopCrack.com. “I had to be an easy person to clash with, we didn’t have that upbringing, we didn’t have that finishing school in hip-hop in 1990 and 1991, so naturally you’re going to have some disagreements. I purposely was a grudge-holder, I held grudges for a really long time and wouldn’t mess with people on just some, “I’m right, I’m right…” which is some spoiled stupid ish to be doing in hindsight. And I probably held us up more than anything.”
The two squashed their differences in the early 2000s and came together to form The Fixxers. They’ve already released “Can U Werk Wit Dat” as the first single and video, which was featured on the last episode of Entourage. They’re currently working on the album, “Midnite Life”, to drop sometime this summer, hopefully on Interscope Records.
“The bottom line is it’s fun,” Quik told us. “It’s something that makes sense. When you’re in the studio and you see me replacing woofers and having to do silicone sealant myself, not because I can’t pay somebody to do it, but because it’s relaxing to do technical work, you realize that it makes sense. It’s like life imitating art, it’s not a corny name, and we’re in here literally fixing stuff, fixing music so we’re the Fixxers.”

What is going on in the world, we got random dudes shooting up colleges and then we have people stabbing their nearest and dearest in domestic disputes. Yeah Beenie Man is supposed to have pulled a knife on his wife in his latest dispute. All I can say is thank goodness the week is close to over. Give me some fake relationship with Rhianna and Omarion over all this nonsense any day.

Filming for a new flick starring Laurence Fishburne, Wilmer Valderrama and a host of other started this week. The movie, Days of Wrath, revolves around Latino and Black gang members as they try to survive a gang war that has taken over Los Angeles. Valderrama stars as a thug who sets off the gang war after stealing a rapper’s car and accidentally killing the mother of his own gang’s kingpin, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Kurupt will play a cameraman (yes, he’s NOT playing a gang member) who rolls with a TV correspondent to cover the craziness of the gang war. Laurence Fishburne will play a teacher who tries to ease tensions between the gangs while David Banner, Slim Thug and Rick Ross all play gang members. The indie flick is shooting for a 2008 release date.

Yeah the vid we showed you yesterday…the leading lady was only 14 and I am guessing now the reason why he ran off the stage so fast was the girls father and uncles and big brothers were after him for what he simulated oh and for the record the girl is the daughter of a Pastor. His camp are now saying if he wants to show what sort of a ‘man’ he is like that again he needs to pull a strategically placed dancer from the crowd instead of some under aged chick. I am sure someone will be digging deep into their pockets for this.

Thats what his baby Momma is said to be getting after a judge ruled in her favor the other day. And 50 had already thrown a lil tantrum after being asked to go through metal detectors in the court house upon arrival. Hmmm maybe that upped the numbers. Just waiting for Cam to spit something about this now, because we all know its been too quiet for too long.

Roberts Broadcasting—the Black-owned company which runs four TV stations and Hip-Hop formatted Hot 97.7/WRBJ-FM—has said banned music with lyrics that it considers to be violent, sexist, and racist.
The decision arrives on the heels of the Don Imus incident when the Talk host was fired by CBS Radio and MSNBC-TV for referring to members of the Rutgers women’s basketball team “nappy-headed hos.”
“There’s probably a higher incidence of derogatory language in general in Hip-Hop music because it’s a language of the street,” said GM Terrill Weiss. “It reflects life, and their art involves a lot of language that could be deemed objectionable.”
On a related note, New York‘s Power 105.1 FM has also launched its own crackdown on offensive rap songs. Program Director Helen Little explained the decision:
“What we’re doing is holding labels and artists accountable for what they say and how they say it,” said Little. “We’re not saying you can’t make this music – just we won’t play it.” She added that their intention is “to encourage people not to talk this way anymore.”

Tony Yayo now has more than a controversial lawsuit to worry about. The G-Unit rapper’s mom’s home was sprayed with bullets on Wednesday (April 18, 2007), according to authorities.
Tony Yayo (Marvin Bernard) was not at the home when bullets pierced through a front door and picture window, but her 32-year old sister was upstairs at the time. Yayo’s sister reportedly told New York Daily News that the perpetrators probably “did it to send a message, but we are innocent people. Either me or my daughter could have been dead.”
The shooter fired about 12 shots from what police referred to as a “powerful weapon.”
On March 24th, a man jumped out from an SUV and attacked the teenage son Game’s manager (Jimmy “Henchman” Rosemond) and Cynthia Reed, as he walked to his dad’s office on West 25th St. at about 9:30 p.m. The boy identified Tony Yayo to police as his attacker.
Yayo entered a “not guilty” plea to charges of endangering the welfare of a minor. He was released on $5,000 bail and is due back in court on later this month.

It’s kind of sad that Jazzy Jeff is still seen as the goofy cat from the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and not for the musical contributions as part of DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince or as a producer who has cooked up beats for everyone from Jill Scott to Eminem. Jeff’s solo debut album, The Magnificent came out in 2001, showcasing Jeff’s production skills.
Now Jeff is back with Return of the Magnificent, his new album solely produced by Jeff featuring Method Man, Rhymefest, J Live, Posdnous (of De La Soul), CL Smooth, Jean Grae, Big Daddy Kane, Peedi Peedi and others. Snoop Dogg’s long-anticipated film, Snoop Dogg’s Hood of Horror will finally get a release date of May 4. The film is partly inspired by Tales From Crypt with Snoop hosting the film as the “Crib Keeper.”
The film is three horror stories blended with anime, live action and comedy. One story features a tagger who gains the power of life and death from a shamanistic stranger, the second story revolves around a bigoted rich man who learns a lesson from the people he loathes and the third story is about a rapper whose skeletons literally come out of the closet.
The film stars everyone from established actors like Billy Dee Williams and Ernie Hudson to pro athletes like Tayshuan Prince and Lamar Odom to rap stars such as Method Man and Snoop himself. For trailers, pics and other information, check out SNOOPS HOOD OF HORROR.
