By: Rizoh A lawsuit has been filed against Beyonce Knowles for covering another artist’s musical material without permission or proper clearance. British singer Des’Ree (the big-voiced pop vocalist known for her 1994 hit “You Gotta Be”) claims that Jay-Z’s handbag didn’t secure proper clearance to cover her song titled “I’m Kissing You.” As the court papers reiterated, the song was used as the love theme from director Baz Luhrmann’s 1996 film Romeo and Juliet. But, a covered version of the song appears as "Still in Love (Kissing You)" on Beyonce’s B-Day album. Consequently, Bey is now facing charges for copyright infringement. Des’Ree also requested that she cease all distribution of “Still in Love (Kissing You),” the video (for the song), and the album itself. In addition to that, Des’Ree is demanding $150,000 in damages. According to MTV News, Beyonce admitted that she had not intended to include a cover of the British singer’s song on her re-released deluxe edition of "B-Day." After being pressured into including it by record execs, the 25 year-old singer “blew off copyright law completely” and went on to record the song anyway, and released the deluxe edition album on April 3rd 2007. Meanwhile, Beyonce is rumored to be in the process of dumping her label Sony Urban Music to go join her mega-star boyfriend, Jay-Z, at Def Jam. No official word has been issued by either party. We’ll keep you posted…
By: Hot Gossip Gal Turns out Tallahassee singer T Pain has obviously upset someone who went onto wikipedia (free online encyclopedia where you can add things about people and events) and wrote a little paragraph about the singer, saying that the stripper he sang about in his joint ‘I am in love with a stripper’ was actually a male stripper who gave him gonorrhea and which obviously resulted in serious ‘testicular pain.’ The paragraph has obviously pulled down and T Pains entry now is free of such scandal. Hmmmmm interesting.

By: Rizoh Former Roc-A-Fella CEO Damon Dash (popularly known as the Running Man) has filed a $3.5 million lawsuit against his accountant Barry Klarberg, alleging that he bungled years’ worth of tax returns. Klarberg, who also counts singer Justin Timberlake’s money, reportedly failed to file Dash’s returns in 2000, 2001, and 2002. Klarberg is also accused of miscalculating how much Dash owed in 2005 and not telling him how much he made from the sale of one of his companies (because, you know, Dash skipped math class in high school). In recent years, Dash has auctioned off his shares in Roc-A-Fella Records and Rocawear clothing line. Klarberg, who wrote Winning Tax Strategies and Planning for Athletes and Entertainers, is a financial adviser to more than 600 jocks, actors and wealthy families, once said that he sees accounting as “much more of an art.” Well, it looks like he’s left Dame with one ugly ass painting this time.
By: Hot Gossip Gal Here is home girls rendition of His Eye is on the Sparrow which she gave up in church this past week. According to YBF she couldn’t even finish the song. But listening to it I think that it may have just been a saving grace that she didn’t get to finish it. She sounds like she may be taking voice lessons off her snow man actually. CLICK HERE TO LISTEN
By Quibian Salazar-Moreno On Sunday night Dave Chappelle made a surprise appearance at the Laugh Factory in Los Angeles for guest set. What the audience didn’t know was that they were in for a long and wild ride. Chappelle set a new record at the club performing for six hours and seven minutes straight with no breaks. According to Variety Magazine he covered everything from President Bush’s intelligence to Comedy Central’s decision to hype Carlos Mencia to Michael Richards blow up last year and using the N-word. Because of the Richards incident the Laugh Factory has imposed a fine to any comedian who uses the word during a set. Chappelle went off on the new rule, used the N-word freely and was slapped with a $2,200 fine after his set was done at 4:43 in the morning. Chappelle broke Dane Cook’s record of a three hour and 50 minute set which he did just a few days earlier. Before Cook, Richard Pryor held the longest set record at two hours and 41 minutes which he set in 1980.
By: Quibian Salazar-Moreno It’s been 10 years since the murder of the Notorious B.I.G. and the case has yet to be solved. Big’s mother Voletta Wallace has been in and out of court trying to get justice for her son bit to no avail. Now Ms. Wallace, Faith Evans and Biggie’s children have filed a wrongful death suit in the Los Angeles County Superior Court (the previous suit was in federal court), which names two former L.A. police officers as defendants. According to the documents obtained by TMZ.com, the suit goes after the LAPD alleging a cover-up to protect the officers and others possibly involved in the murder and the investigation of the case. The suit also says the murder of Biggie was done in a “very efficient, organized and professional manner suggesting that a high degree of coordination and planning preceded his murder. There were numerous police officers and witnesses in the vicinity of the murder. Police had just been called to the front of the building due to shots having been fired in the air. The murderers had access to equipment (police radio) and knowledge of police tactics, which would allow them to strike at precisely the right time.” Ms. Wallace, Faith and Big’s children are seeking unspecified general, compensatory and punitive damages.

By: Rizoh The gunman who massacred 32 students at Virginia Tech’s Norris Hall before ending his own life was “an Asian male (Cho Seung-Hui) who was a resident in one of our dormitories,” said VT’s President Charles Steger this morning. Though Steger didn’t provide further details and he said he was still uncertain whether the student gunman at Norris was the same one who fatally shot two people in a dorm two hours earlier, various independent news reports in Virginia suggest that the shooter may have been an international student. University police Chief Wendell Flinchum said Monday night police have a preliminary identification of one gunman, but they are not ready to release it. We here at Crackspace send out deepest condolences to all who have been affected.
*Drumroll* Will Smith is reuniting with his erstwhile deejaying partner Jazzy Jeff for a world tour. The pair, who dominated the rap game in the 1980’s with hit songs like “Parents Just Don’t Understand” and “Summertime,” will dazzle fans once again with their relatable rhymes and terrific turntablism. Smith has had a largely successful movie career, and was recently declared the most powerful actor by Newsweek. He’s now putting his acting hat on the side to stage a musical comeback. “We always talk about doing a record and a huge tour,” said Smith. “We just have to clear the time to do it. Right now, the plan is we are supposed to go out on tour together at the end of this year.” Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince won the first rap Grammy ever in 1989 for “Parent’s Just Don’t Understand.”
By: Hot Gossip Gal Yup mogul Sean Combs is looking for a personal assistant. Obviously you gotta be on call 24-7 and able to keep your mouth shut about things as the job description does state on numerous occasions ..confidentiality is a must. Translated that means…’no telling Kim that now Jen is back on the market, I might be working a lot more hours.’Just hope the money is right as jobs like that can make or break a person.
