By: Rizoh It’s not everyday that you hear about a man being arrested for playing hip-hop music too loud. A man was arrested in a New Westminster apartment building after residents alerted the police that he was playing loud hip-hop music for the last two weeks. Neighbors complained that the music was especially loud on the night of the arrest. Sure enough, police officers had no problem tracking down the man’s apartment. According to reports, the 34-year old man was asked to turn down the music. He allegedly declined, despite being threatened with charges of public mischief. The man was consequently arrested. Peace and order was restored in that neighborhood.
By: Rizoh Rappers are not the only ones keeping it real these days. A Vallejo hip-hop cop named Steve Darden, who crashed his cruiser into a house while chasing a suspect, plans on releasing a CD about his experiences as police officer. Darden was helping another cop during the chase of a suspected stolen vehicle when he lost control of his own vehicle and rammed into a garage in the 300 block of El Dorado Street, according to police reports. Sergeant Darden hopes that his upcoming CD, titled It’s Ruff Out Here, will inspire young people to stay away from trouble. “My message on the CD is about respecting yourself, not selling yourself short, making plans for your life and achieving those goals,” Darden told the Times-Herald. His music draws on tragic stories of crimes and homicides from cases he’s worked over the years.
By: Hot Gossip Gal Well it was going to happen at some point or another. Someone was going to get pissed enough to take the trick to court and you kinda understand why it is Tigger. He was said to have had a sexual encounter with Tyson Beckford..that if it isnt true is hard to take (no homo). Mims Says Kanye Stole His Sound Finding this a little hard to believe but Mims really believes he was responsible for Kanye West’s distinctive sound, ‘the sped up soul sample production sound’ Kanye is notorious for. Do I need to comment on this? Or are y’all going to save me the bother???
By Quibian Salazar-Moreno Ever since Rick Rubin headed over to Columbia Records, he’s been trying to work in a successful scheme for the legendary label. One of the major additions is the appointment of Kyambo “Hip-Hop” Joshua as president of Columbia’s urban department. Joshua is the former A&R at Roc-A-Fella Records and is responsible for bringing Kanye to the Roc (he raps about him on College Dropout’s “Last Call”) and developing the sound of Roc-A-Fella’s sound. Joshua then went and hired Kanye’s mentor and former Common producer, Dion “No I.D.” Wilson, to head Columbia’s urban A&R department. "Hip-Hop and I have been close friends for a long time, and now that he’s the president of Columbia‘s urban department, it makes sense," Wilson told Billboard. "We’re trying to create an A&R position that’s both an A&R and production situation. Everything needs to be correct. I’m not just looking for a title. I want to make a useful change in what’s going on, it has to be more than babysitting. Hip-Hop told me to get writers and musicians together as well as all of the resources so we can offer artists more than just direction. I hate to use the same example everyone uses but similar to how they put together Motown. We want to put together records the old way." Although they’re still mapping out their plans, Joshua said that one of the first thing they will do is get R&B artist Maxwell to release his long-gestating album, “Black Summer’s Night.”
By Quibian Salazar-Moreno The rumor has been floating on the internet for most of the year, but Ciara or 50 Cent still haven’t given fans an answer. While in Atlanta on the Scream Tour with T.I., Young Joc and other folks, Atlanta Journal-Constitution reporter, David Graves approached Ciara and asker her straight-up: Graves: Are you dating 50 Cent, yes or no? Ciara: [with the biggest, probably most adorable smile to come out of Riverdale High] We’re good friends. Graves: C’mon, Ciara, that was a yes or no question. We’re trying to break some news here. Ciara: [after a hearty laugh] We’re just good friends. Graves: OK, so who would you like to date past or present if not 50 Cent? Ciara: Oh! Tupac … he was soooo fine! Of course fans will still link the two together since 50 Cent is considered the “new” Tupac and really didn’t gove a yes or no answer. Ciara’s stint on the Scream Tour ends on Sunday in Los Angeles.
By: Hot Gossip Gal Turns out the mighty Dr Dre will be showing up on 50′s album afterall..well thats what Curtis is saying anyway. Will this dead all the rumors of the beef that is present between Dre and his artist??? We shall have to wait and see. Dre supposedly drops a verse on the joint as well as producing it. What’s this…getting warmed up for Detox? Gillie v Cassidy Things are getting a little heated in Philly it would appear. There is trouble brewing between Gillie and Cassidy over remarks made in an interview. Gillie supposed to have been running his mouth about Cassidy this time. I mean he didn’t get far with the Lil Wayne attack did he, now he going after Cassidy. He was supposed to be signing to G Unit earlier this year but the reason that it never popped off has yet to be determined or maybe it was just people running their mouths and 50 was never interested in the first place at signing the dude. Even wanna be rappers have spin doctors these days.
By: Rizoh As quiet as it was kept, Sha Money XL has been at loggerheads with 50 Cent for the past eight months or so. Now the G-Unit president is saying he’s ready to put all the bickering behind him and make nice with his friends. He arrived at that decision after a meeting in which the crew discussed future plans for G-Unit. “The whole squad was there,” Sha Money told MTV regarding the meeting. “G-Unit is back. Every beef is squashed.” Sha also clarified that he’s yet to be replaced with another president. “There is no replacement,” said Sha. “There’s 50 Cent. 50 Cent is the president and CEO of G-Unit. He’s not gonna replace anyone. He has to fix things himself now, outside of Chris Lighty (50’s manager), and Chris Lighty has a lot of responsibilities with Diddy and his other clients. There’s a lot of pressure. 50’s under a lot of pressure. But he’s really killing it. He’s doing what he got to do. It’s frustrating and I tried to tell him that’s the frustration I used to have. I’m one man, Interscope has 500 people. Some things you just can’t fix.”
By: Rizoh Russell Simmons has ditched his position as head of Phat Fashions. The hip-hop impressario started the company in 1992 with the launch of the Phat Farm fashion line. Phat Fashions includes Phat Farm (men’s line) and Baby Phat (women’s brand). Kimora Lee Simmons, Baby Phat president and creative director, will replace Russell as creative director for Phat Fashions in addition to her current responsibilities. “Kimora’s ability to create the Baby Phat brand universe from a simple tee shirt on the runway over 10 years ago and turn it into a multi-million dollar global business today — is truly an amazing feat in today’s mercurial fashion world,” said Robert C. Skinner, Jr., Kellwood chairman, president and CEO. “We believe her innate sense of style, extensive fashion background, and her gift to mesh unique trends that resonate with her core audience is readily transferable to the men’s Phat business. She will have the oversight of the creative direction for both the Baby Phat and Phat Farm family of brands. Her business savvy and understanding of the Phat Fashions’ brands and consumer following are very valuable to the company as we continue to build the aura of Phat worldwide.” In a separate statement, Russell Simmons announced that he’s leaving Phat Fashions to move on to other ventures. “I have enjoyed my association with Kellwood over the last three years. We have accomplished much during this short period of time—and I leave the division and the brand in great hands. There are so many things I want to achieve, and this is the appropriate moment for me to move on to my next business venture.”
By Will “Deshair” Foskey Here at HipHopCrack.com, we’ll do whatever it takes to ‘Make It Work’ all ‘Because of You’. And while you’re ‘So Sick’ of our competitors, we brighten up your day ‘When You’re Mad’. HipHopCrack.com is going to do us, so we suggest that you ‘Do You’. Any diehard Ne-Yo fan would know that I just incorporated a few of hit R&B hits into the first paragraph. For those that allowed for it to fly over their heads, start from the top until you catch up. Ne-Yo is currently one of the busiest entertainers in the Music Industry today. So when you’re lucky enough to catch the Las Vegas born, songwriting phenom in between his busy schedule; in this case, ten minutes after he woke up in the morning, you have to be ready when your phone rings. You want you’re exclusives; we have your exclusives… What do you believe was the best story you’ve told so far through music? Ne-Yo: I don’t think that I’ve told that story yet. There are feelings that are going on in my life that I’m still trying to figure out how to trim it down to 3 minutes and 30 seconds. What are the odds of ‘Make it Work’ being the next single off of your album? Ne-Yo: Since ‘Do You’ is such a slower-mid, we’re probably going to go with something a little faster. ‘Make it Work’ is definitely going to be a single; I just don’t feel that it will be the next one. It’s either going to be ‘Can We Chill’ or ‘Go On Girl’. Through my research on your influences, I was a bit thrown off. You’re quoted that Sammy Davis Jr. and Prince played a huge part in your growth as an artist. But when you open your mouth or perform on stage, people often compare you to Michael Jackson. Can you make sense of this? Ne-Yo: Yes, I can. I looked up to Prince as a Musical God, because there’s nothing the man can’t do musically. I looked up to Sammy Davis Jr. because of his overall swag. Sammy Davis Jr., glass eyeball and all was a cool, cool cat; he was electric on stage. As for the Michael comparisons, it came from me literally studying Mike and I’m not talking about his dance moves. I can dance, but it has never been my forte’. When I was learning how to see, I hated the tone of my voice because it was nasally and thin. My mom used to listen to cats like Billy Ocean, Donnie Hathaway and Sam Cooke; singers with these rich, smokey voices. That was what I wanted to sound like, but I didn’t have that (richness). So my mom gave me Michael Jackson’s “Off the Wall” album and Stevie Wonders “Hotter Than July” album. She told me to study both albums back and forth and I would become a better singer because of it. So that’s what I did. I knew “Off The Wall” frontward and backwards. And she was right; I became more comfortable with my own voice. When you’re name is brought up, longevity is not too far behind it. How do you feel about the fact that many of your fans who love you now, also believe that you will be the artist that they will grow old still loving? Ne-Yo: Man, it’s a beautiful feeling. I believe that this is the one thing that every artist absolutely strives for. Every artist wants to be around for as long as they can be. I’m trying to have U2’s career. They’ve been at the highest level spanning for decades, making great music and selling out stadium after stadium and all of that; it’s a beautiful thing. I guess that if I just keep doing what I’m doing, I’ll be alright.
By: Hot Gossip Gal Word in Hoellywood is that Lil Kim isn’t just getting it from Ray J. Word is Jamie Foxx (yeah the same Jamie Foxx that is supposed to be gay according to some unknown Publicist trying to make some money) has been caught out and about with the Queen B over there on the West coast recently.

By Quibian Salazar-Moreno According to Billboard, Missy Elliot has signed an endorsement deal with Doritos chips to promote their new flavor, Doritos Collision. In a commercial that will air on Sept. 17, Missy is working on a new track and then stops to snack on Doritos Collisions chips. Because of the two different-tasting chips in the same bag, Missy is inspired to make a song with two different styles. She then creates a hip-hop track with a country feel. "The whole idea of the mash-up is so prevalent and popular in music today," Elliott’s manager, Mona Scott of Violator Management, told Billboard. "It’s so Missy. And the fact that the campaign takes place in a studio means that Missy remains in her element, which makes the whole thing authentic." Fans of Missy can visit SNACK STRONG PRODUCTIONS and create their own “mash-up” using Missy’s track from the commercial. Mixes can then be posted on the gallery and the best five mixes will win prizes that have yet to be announced.
By: Hot Gossip Gal Not once but twice has Jay Z been in this place when cops have raided it. The Box is an upscale sex club for celebrities and has an extensive list of patrons from all walks of life and all fields of entertainment, business and fashion. It is literally the place where the A list go to get their freak on and their rocks off. Anyhow turns out Jay got away without being frisked like other members who were present. Jay was supposed to be their in May when it got raided because of something to do with a liquor license. Well maybe he and B have look but don’t touch rule.
By: Rizoh The war on hip-hop culture has suffered another blow, with Atlanta city officials proposing a ban on baggy pants that reveal boxer shorts or thongs. The proposal, sponsored by city councilman C.T. Martin, would make it illegal to sag your pants under city law. But the ordinance will is not geared towards just males. The proposal would also make it illegal for women to show the strap of a thong beneath their pants and showing bra straps in public. Martin hopes to hold hearings and push for the proposal through churches and community organizations. If the ordinance passes, a penalty in the amount of a fine would be determined. Opponents of the proposal say that it will fail because it perpetuates racial profiling. A similar ordinance has already passed successfully elsewhere. Earlier in June, the town of Delcambre, Louisiana passed an ordinance that fines offenders up to $500 or up to six months in jail for exposing sagging pants in public.
