By: Rizoh Busta Rhymes, who turned down a prosecutor’s offer of six months in jail as penalty for two assault charges, is now considering a judge’s deal that will allow him to walk free if he pleads guilty to a lesser assault charge. According to Manhattan Judge Tanya Kennedy said Busta (born Trevor Smith Jr.) could plead guilty to third-degree assault and enjoy a conditional discharge. The conditional release offer includes five days of community service, two weeks of youth lectures, and a six-month anger management program. What landed Busta in this hot soup in the first place? As previously reported on ihiphop.com, the 34-year old rapper threw punches at one of his drivers on December 26, 2006. The driver, Eddie Hatchet, had gone to Busta’s office to demand outstanding payment for his services. If Busta Bus accepts the plea deal, the charges would be dropped in six months. Regular folks would probably spend years in jail for a similar bust. It sure pays to be rich and famous.
By: Hot Gossip Gal No y’all its not a joke, the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul is on the cover of Vibe again which has shocked many as the last cover the mag featuring MJB really upset the Diva and had her airing out then EIC Mimi Valdez at the Vibe Awards. Well since Mimi was fired from the publication last year MJB has no worries of the same thing happening again. On the cover the Yonkers native looks as glam as ever, just as a Queen should.
By Quibian Salazar-Moreno Maybe they were inspired by their father’s Run Athletics Footwear, but whatever the case, Vanessa and Angela Simmons, daughter of Rev. Run of Run-DMC are launching a line of shoes. Named Pastry Footwear, the shoe line will consist of athletic shoes for women. The first collection is The Cake Collection launching on March 23 and will feature shoes with names like Chocolate Mousse (brown with pink highlights), Strawberry Shortcake (pink with white highlights), Red Velvet (red with white highlights) and Sprinkles (white with small multi-colored dots). Each pair of shoes will have a tube of lip gloss with it that will look and smell in coordination with the shoe. The shoes will be available at Underground Station stores and their website, which is in development.
By Quibian Salazar-Moreno Everyone knows who Anthony Anderson is. The name might not be familiar, but as soon as you see his face you can rattle off the dozens of movies he’s been in. From “Hustle & Flow” to “Me Myself & Irene,” not too mention his TV appearances in “The Shield”, “Til Death” and “The Bernie Mac Show”, plus his voice over work in video games like Scarface: The World is Yours and the upcoming Def Jam: Icon. Anderson’s hustle continues in the TV arena as he has been cast in the co-starring role for Fox’s “K-Ville”, a drama based in New Orleans. The show follows a pair of cops as they work in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and try to rebuild the city. Anderson will play one of the cops who sincerely believes that if everyone pulls together, the city can thrive again. Anderson’s co-star will have an opposite view. You’ll also be able to see Anderson in the Transformers film opening on July 4.
By: Hot Gossip Gal I am hearing that this legend still hasn’t been laid to rest. Something to do with his estate, not quite sure how he can solve it now, but that is the word.
By: Rizoh A 2-year old industry rumor was laid to rest last weekend when XM Satellite Radio and SIRIUS Satellite Radio entered into an agreement to merge into one company. The assets and holdings of the two companies will be combined in a tax-free, all-stock merger of equals with a combined enterprise value of approximately $13 billion, including net debt of approximately $1.6 billion. XM Chairman Gary Parsons will continue to lead the new company and Sirius CEO/President Mel Karmazin will run the combined operation. Under the terms of the merger, XM shareholders will receive a fixed exchange ratio of 4.6 shares of SIRIUS common stock for each share of XM they own. XM and SIRIUS shareholders will each own approximately 50 percent of the combined company. "We are excited for the many opportunities that an XM and SIRIUS combination will provide consumers," said Gary Parsons, Chairman of XM Satellite Radio and Hugh Panero, CEO of XM Satellite Radio, in a joint statement. "This combination is the next logical step in the evolution of audio entertainment," said Mel Karmazin, CEO of SIRIUS Satellite Radio. We sure hope it is.
By: Hot Gossip Gal I reported on the sex edition of Ozone late last year. Now EIC Julia Beverley has taken it to a whole other level by putting out the drugs edition. All 54 features in the mag are concentrating on drugs, ‘How to Rob a Crack House,’ is that what people look to read when they buy magazines now? No wonder we all would rather switch on our computers and read the sites as opposed to this garbage. Hip-Hop is forever being dumbed down, we don’t need our so called ‘own’ encouraging it by printing this. ‘Juelz Santana’s favorite ways to cook crack’ come on now and these artists are allowing themselves to be associated with this shit. Happy Tuesday y’all!!!!!

By: Hot Gossip Gal There is no messing with the King of NYC even when he is outta town. He filed a temporary restraining order in the Federal Court in Las Vegas last Friday to shut down a party that was using his likeness to promote their event. Of course he was hosting his own event The First Annual Two Kings Dinner with Le Bron James at Tao and I guess he didn’t want some fake ass event spoiling his reign in the City of Sin.
By: Rizoh "While you were busy poring over pictures of Britney’s baldy, readers around the world were canceling magazine" Beyonce’s pictorials in the new swimsuit issue of Sports Illustrated. Hiphopcrack.com has learned that subscribers have been calling SI offices to complain about the March issue which is dubbed “the music issue.” Word on the street is that their gripe has more to do with the number of African-American artists featured in the issue. Evidently the swimsuit issue, which also features Kanye West, Three-6-Mafia and Gnarls Barkley posing with SI models, is being renamed the “ghetto issue” by angry subscribers and readers on message boards. Despite all the complaints, Beyonce says she’s proud of her looks in the magazine. Who knew that people would be angered by so much beauty?
By Quibian Salazar-Moreno Things have been looking up for Jamie Foxx in the past year, selling albums, getting nominated for Grammys and such. He’s always had a tight hairline as well, but now the person who was hooking him up is suing him for non-payment. Stacy Young, a well-known celebrity stylist filed a lawsuit charging that Foxx hired her in June 2006 for the BET Awards and agreed to pay her $2,850 a day, but was never paid. She was also hired to take care of Foxx while promoting Miami Vice, where she supposed to earn $3,000 a day, but was never paid. The lawsuit also says that Foxx and his people also failed to reimburse her for costs in connection to doing both jobs. Foxx’s publicist, Alan Nierob said he knew nothing of the lawsuit. In the meantime, Foxx is still promoting his album, Unpredictable, on a nationwide tour until April.
By: Rizoh It’s not unusual for hip-hop to come under fire every now and then. In fact, it’s been a while since hip-hop last caught any backlash. Alfred “Coach” Powell, a professor at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, has rekindled the debate on hip-hop’s depiction of negative images and lifestyles. The professor was the keynote speaker at a Youth Empowerment Seminar hosted Weisser Park Youth Center. At the seminar put together by Stop the Madness Inc., Powell condemned rap music for promoting profanity and promiscuous clothing styles, among other things. “It breaks my heart to hear conversations between young people today, and every other word is profanity,” he said. Powell, the author of Hip-Hop Hypocrisy: When Lies Sound Like the Truth, encouraged young people to get educated and stay active in the community. Rap music has been blamed for everything from teen violence to immorality. But who’s really to blame here—the artists, the fans, or the industry?
By: Hot Gossip Gal Yeah it went down this weekend after Young Buck got up on stage, at a party held by TI and Jeezy at The Ice House Lounge, and free styled over one of Games own joints. Game tried to get to Buck but supposedly security stepped in and put an end to that. But now Game is claiming Buck as his next victim. Was there a first victim?
