By: Rizoh Styles P’s latest album, Time Is Money, has only been in stores for less than two months, but the D-Block wordsmith is ready to unleash his next disc. While speaking to New York’s Hot 97 FM, Styles P (born David Styles) disclosed that his third LP, The 5 Star General, will be released on Koch Records this May. “I’m going over to Koch. I like those guys. They get the work done,” he told Angie Martinez. The 5 Star General features Akon on a song titled “Eyez on You.” The album also contains what Styles described as “songs for the ladies.” Will third time be the charm for SP? Only time will tell.
By: Hot Gossip Gal Ok well Gillie Da Kids manager is saying that her artist isn’t actually so silly after all to get caught running two drug houses in his native Philly. Here is the statement management issued on behalf of the rapper. The charges are unwarranted and once Gillie has his day in court, we are confident that the evidence against him will prove to be false. The Philadelphia Police Department is clearly using Gillie’s status as a hip-hop artist and entertainer to draw media attention to him. This was clearly a case of him being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Gillie is in no way guilty of the charges brought against him and once all facts come to light, he will be fully exonerated. Gillie is in high spirits and wants to thank the whole hip hop community for their support and well wishes during this time."
By: Rizoh Jadakiss, known for his slick metaphors and tough talk, has been indicted charges of weapons and drug possession. The 31-year old emcee born Jason Phillips pled “not guilty” to those charges Westchester County Court yesterday (February 8th). His lawyer Clement Patti maintained that he was yet to see or hear of any evidence connecting his client to possessing this weapon. According to Patti, Jadakiss was in the back seat and didn’t know there was a gun in the front console. As previously reported on hiphopcrack, Kiss was one of four people stopped by Yonkers Police department in September, 2006. Cops had observed that the driver of the 2006 Toyota Camry transporting Jada and others was behaving oddly, and noticed an odor of marijuana as they approached the car. If convicted on the gun charge, Jadakiss could face between 16 months and seven years behind bars.
By: HotGossip Gal If State Sen. Carl Kruger gets his way there will be no talking on cell phones, no using blackberrys or ipods while crossing city streets. The bill would fine all abusers $100 if captured, but would only be enforced on the major cities in New York. They did with cell phones in the cars peeps so we better get ready for this one too.
By Quibian Salazar-Moreno There are some issues going down in Kentucky regarding Ludacris, a local promoter and a local high school. Lexington’s Bryan Station High School recently opened up a new high school building and as part of the celebration and support for music education, local promoter Jim Lunsford announced that the high school band would open up for Ludacris when he came to town on February 22, in addition to donating $10,000 worth of musical instruments for every artists he brings to Lexington. Apparently the parents weren’t having it as they emailed pages of Ludacris’ lyrics to the school district’s superintendent Stu Silberman. Silberman then announced that the high school band will not be opening for Ludacris because of the content of his lyrics. "We’re not trying to judge Ludacris or anything like that," Silberman told the Lexington Herald-Leader. "We’re trying to make a decision based on what we believe is best for our kids." Which is all fine and good, but now folks are wondering if they should accept the $10,000 worth of musical instruments from Lunsford, who gets the money from tickets sales to the show. "Everything that Ludacris stands for and talks about is specifically against Fayette County code of conduct in Fayette County Public Schools," Jack Pattie, a local radio host and father of a student at the school, said. "If you use the language he uses, you’ll get suspended. If you beat up women, you’ll be suspended. If you use drugs, you’ll be suspended." Is it time for Luda to change it up?
By: Hot Gossip Gal Ok so 50 Cent is now working on his second book, aptly titled the 50th Law which he says will "capture and create a visible parallel between street life and corporate America standard and structure." Should be interesting, I mean hustling on Wall Street or hustling on the Ave, hustling is hustling, 50 may just have a point there.
By Quibian Salazar-Moreno Timbaland blew up 2006 with his production behind Justin Timberlake and Nelly Furtado and he’s trying to move more into the rock arena. He’s already worked on the upcoming album from Duran Duran and he recently told Entertainment Weekly that he’s hoping to work with super star rock band, Coldplay as well. ”It would give me a new energy; it would take me to a whole other place,” Timbaland told EW on Tuesday. ”[Coldplay] are so talented, it would help me as a person. Working with them would be great. It’s about the music — not clothes or jewelry, just pure passion for music.” Tim’s publicist also told EW that the producer plans to meet with Coldplay sometime in April as they plan to record a follow-up to 2005’s triple platinum, X&Y. Apparently, Coldplay might consider Timbaland working on the entire project with the band, but the band has not confirmed or denied the reports. Timbaland’s new album, Timbaland Present Shock Value, is set to drop on March 27 with appearances from Furtado, Timberlake, Fall Out Boy, The Hives, She Wants Revenge, Jay-Z, Elton John, Snoop Dogg, M.I.A. and a host of others.
By: Hot Gossip Gal The man who allegedly gave Lil Wayne everything he needed to go and surpass even him in the rap game has been arrested in Philly for running two drug houses. Obviously ghost writing wasn’t what was giving Gillie his so called flamboyant lifestyle after all like he tried to portray.
By Will “Deshair” Foskey 2-time 2007 Grammy nominee and clearly 2006’s out-of-nowhere, breakthrough artist Chamillionaire is readying his March sophomore album release, “Ultimate Victory”. In 2006, Koopa brought home a list of awards as well as a Platinum plague for his debut album, “The Sound of Revenge”. He was also crowned the biggest selling Ringtone artist ever in 2006, with 3.2 million Ringtone sales, certified by the RIAA as the first multi-platinum Mastertone artist in history. In our conversation (12-20-06), Chamillionaire talks about his new album which is still in the works, his lack of feeling vengeful in ’07 & why his feature on 20/20 that was based around his 2006 smash “Ridin” (Racial Profiling) was cancelled. Honestly, after the year you’ve just had, is the “revenge” part of your movement over with? Chamillionaire: Yes, definitely. I’m glad that you’ve asked that question because it leads to the title of my new album, “Ultimate Victory”. I spent this past year working so hard, trying to get my revenge that I didn’t have anytime to enjoy it. So I’m through with seeking revenge, I just want to enjoy life now. There’s wasn’t much publicized on why 20/20 backed out on featuring you on their show to talk about profiling… now that some time has passed since then, would you like to speak on the reason why you feel that your segment was cancelled? Chamillionaire: Originally, I was told that the feature was cancelled because the slot was already filled. But to me, the cancellation just happened to quick, like right before the scheduled taping. What people don’t know is that they’ve prescreened me before the interview through a phone call. I was asked questions about racial profiling and if I was ever a victim of racial profiling, so I said, “Yes.” Then I was asked to explain the incident. So I went into details about those incidents. I told them about how a cop pulled me over and told that I had warrants. After that he said that if I give him money that he’d let me go. So we drove to an ATM, I took out the money, gave it to him, and he let me go. I knew that I didn’t have any warrants in the first place, but that was also the day that I just got my car painted (the paint would change colors in the light when you look at it), plus rims on it. He was driving in the opposite direction when he decided to slow down, take a U-turn, pull me over and threaten to put me in jail for something that I didn’t do. I also told them about the time that the cops thought that the vehicle I was in was stolen. So they took me out of the car, threw me to the ground, stepped on my face pressing it to the concrete with guns to my face. They found out that the car wasn’t stolen so they let me go. After I told those two stories the representative was in disbelief, asking me if things like that still happened today. Maybe they thought that if I was interviewed for the show that people would think that I was crazy – I don’t know. So I hear that you have a new album dropping in March… speak on it. Chamillionaire: I’m actually in New York right now, recording on the new album. Last night, I recorded a song with Kelis called, “I’m Not a Criminal” (which was just released on January 16). At the moment, I don’t have much to say in regards to the album because we’re still in the political stages of it, trying to get music cleared. I have a song with R. Kelly as well, but I can’t promise that I will be able to get the song cleared by the label at this time. So I am still in the creative process for “Ultimate Victory” but it will consist of street commercial music. On this album, I’m the A&R, the administrator, the executive producer – I am doing it all, because I feel that I know what hot music is. In the industry you can get caught up in a lot of politics with people trying to tell you how to do your music. I feel that “Ridin” ended up doing so well because it was the closest representation of who I am. So if people loved that, I feel that they will love me for just being myself. Even though I worked with a lot of the same producers from my first album, you will see on this album that I’ve expanded my reach working with producers like Kanye’, Just Blaze, J.R. Rotem, but like I said before, I can’t say which songs will make the album quite yet. What statement best defines 2006 for you? Chamillionaire: Hard work really pays off. People can talk about the hits, but they don’t realize how much hard work I really put into this year. I went on tour to every nook and cranny in this country, from small to large venues. I went overseas, then I came back to the states for more tour – then I went back overseas. I was pushing myself to the limit; going platinum was not easy. www.Chamillionaire.com has relaunched before the turn of the year with a special gift to his fans – “The Mixtape Messiah 2” can be downloaded in its entirety.
By Quibian Salazar-Moreno C-Murder’s new album is called Screamin’ 4 Vengeance, but we’re wondering who he has a vendetta against? He’s been sentenced to life in prison after being convicted for the murder (get it? murder, C-Murder?) of a teenager at a Louisiana club. He served a couple of years before his conviction was overturned and now awaits a new trial. Is he mad at the system? While waiting for the new trial, C-Murder recorded the album with the first single, “Posted on the Block” explaining what he’s been through the past few years. “A lot of people want to know what’s going on with me and what my personal feelings are as far as what I’ve been through the last five years,” C-Murder said. “The public’s getting a basic picture of what I’ve been through, how I feel and what’s going on in my mind from that song.” A video for “Posted on the Block” has been shot, but C-Murder is unable to appear in it because he’s under a gag order from the court. Screamin’ 4 Vengeance will hit stores on March 20 on the newly refurbished Priority Records and feature appearances from Chamillionaire, LeToya, Slim Thug, and Pimp C.

By:Rizoh Nas has only been in partnership with Jay-Z for about a year and he’s already picking up Jay’s business acumen? The New York lyricist announced on BET’s 106 & Park yesterday (February 7th) that he’s designing an exclusive new line of shoes named Disciples. According to Nas, the Disciples line will be available in stores this June. Looks can be deceiving, but if the kicks Nas was rocking during his BET appearance is anything to go by, then I’m definitely copping a pair or two.

By: Rizoh In the latest issue of Playboy magazine, Mariah Carey again denies ever being romantically involved with rapper Eminem. Mimi goes as far as claiming that Em is oddly obsessed with her. “Something’s clearly askew with him and I’m not quite sure what it is,” Carey told Playboy. “I just heard something else he recently said about me. I’m curious as to why he’s so obsessed with me. I never got an apology letter, by the way. Then again, I wasn’t exactly searching my mailbox for it.” Mariah has always denied the rumors of a romance between them, but Eminem begs to differ. He has played personal phone messages from Mariah Carey at his concerts. The messages reportedly feature Mariah begging for Eminem to return her calls. In related news, Eminem’s ex-wife Kim Mathers recently dished some dirt to ABC’s 20/20 about the blonde rapper. Kim revealed that the major cause of their divorce was infidelity, stating that she couldn’t count how many times Eminem had cheated on her.
By: Hot Gossip Gal That is what the word is on the street and wouldn’t the streets be happy to see those two wed? Apparently on vacation in the Bahamas together recently Keish was calling Jeezy her fiance and was supposed to be sporting a serious rock on her finger. I say good luck to them..that could be an interesting wedding.
