Janet Jackson has announced her departure from Island Def Jam after less than two years on the label. She inked a lucrative deal July of 2007 and released her first album, Discipline in early 2008. When her sales faltered she expressed her discontent with the promotion she was receiving.  According to her publicist, she is looking forward to her new free agency status and is excited about her future. Young Jeezy fell only a single slot in a week with his third album The Recession selling 89,941 in its second week. The other original Def Jam artist LL Cool J cracked the charts just above the 10 spot, selling 43,645 units in its first week.  The Game takes #7 with LAX selling 49,241 and Lil’ Wayne is still putting up impressive numbers after reaching the double-platinum mark, placing a spot below the Compton MC and a spot over the self-proclaimed G.O.A.T Additional Reporting by Rashaan Meador
