CIARA TO SUE VIBE
Hmmm looks like Vibe is getting into a little more hot water this week. Last week it was Robin Thicke dissing the publication and now the Princess of Crunk Ciara is taking them to the cleaners for the so called ‘naked’ shoot she did for the recent edition. Turns out that the shots of a naked Ciara were actually photoshopped and she reportedly didn’t pose void of clothes AT ALL. Well then, this wouldnt be the first time the magazine has been in trouble for pictures, remember that whole scandal with the Mary J Blige cover back in 2006? Although photoshopping someone so they appear naked is a little extreme isn’t it?
RUNNING HIS MOUTH …..AGAIN
Ok so he kind of excused himself for talking out the face about the Republican Vice President hopeful when he invited himself to play ice hockey with her but not quite sure how he will talk his way out of this one. Sean Combs went on camera …YET AGAIN and was mouthing off about the price of gas and how much it is costing high fliers like himself to fill up their private jets. Well surprise surprise, Puffy doesnt actually own his own private jet like he would have us believe. TMZ found out that Sean Combs name is not on any list that specifies he has his own private jet and those aviation peeps don’t mess around with their data. Oh well I guess Diddy better get used to flying commercial after all or try and catch a ride with Luda I guess.
RIGHT OR WRONG?
Warner music pulled down Estelle and Kanye West’s American Boy down off ITunes this week, hoping that fans would go out and buy the English singers entire album as opposed to the track that sat on the top of various charts this Summer. Since doing this the album Shine has dropped even lower and the single has gone from 11 on the Billboard chart to 37. Was this a wise move by the label? Is some money better than no money?
KICKED TO THE KERB
If it isn’t raining then it is certainly pouring in the world of Damon Dash right now. With two properties close to foreclosure, the brain behind the Roc in the early days has just recently lost his deal with Pro Keds. dash was brought on board to give the sneaker line a new face lift back in 2004 but now the company has decided to take the sneaker which turns 60 this year in a new direction and unfortunately Dame isn’t part of that. “It was just a matter of timing,” said Stride Rite spokeswoman Debra Fernandez. “We just wanted a new direction,” she went on to explain. Since the highly publicized split from Rocafella in 2004 Dame Dash has never really had the success he had when he was throwing up the Roc thats for sure.
Jay-Z Announces Sale of 40/40 Las Vegas
Jay-Z and his business partners have officially announced the sale of the 40/40 Club in Las Vegas for an undetermined amount. The 24,000 square foot sports bar located in The Palazzo Casino will not operate under the 40/40 brand, as the sale is only for the lease of the building. Mr. Carter said in a released statement: “The sale is a great business decision, we are delighted. We look forward to expanding the brand even further to Chicago and Tokyo”. JAY Z REOPENS HOLLYWOOD PALLADIUM
It is close to seventy years since the Hollywood Palladium first opened its doors. The venue was the place that encouraged the careers of artists like Frank Sinatra and performers such as the Rolling Stones and James Brown as well as holding high profile parties for the likes of John F Kennedy and dare I say in the same breath as JFK, Paris Hilton and Lyndsey Lohan. The 4,000 capacity venue was leased to Live Nation back in 2007 and the company decided to make some changes to the iconic venue in an attempt to restore the art-deco inspired building to its former glory. So who better to hit the stage on the opening night on October 15th but Live Nation’s very own poster boy Jay Z. “Just as Frank ushered in a golden era, I hope this opening will mark the beginning of a resurgence in generation-defining live music,” said Brooklyn’s finest.
SWIZZ OWES NEARLY A MILL
Not sure if a Ruff Ryders Reunion project will help Swizz pay back the $900,000 in back taxes the super producer owes the IRS. Not quite sure what it is that has these money makers think they can avoid paying taxes, because as well know, their are two things you can’t cheat….death and the taxman. Swizz’s next solo project Life After the Party is expected to hit shelves before the year end but as of yet no date has been officially determined.
ONE DOOR CLOSES ANOTHER OPENS
Atlanta power couple Jermaine Dupri and Janet Jackson may have taken a loss when they closed the doors on Cafe Durpi and its staff last week but Janet launched her underwear line this week, Pleasure Principle to keep the couple in the spotlight. Made from the finest laces and silks the lingerie should be hitting US stores this year, the Japanese and European markets next. Pictured is the designer of the collection Bruno Schiavi, a model (obviously) and Ms.Jackson herself.
DAME DASH NEEDS A LOAN
Looks like things are really not working out for Dame Dash since he and Jigga parted ways. Due to not paying his mortgage on two trendy Manhattan apartments it looks like the once brain of the Roc is going to have to face the courts in regards to the matter. Dash also owes back taxes and those late fees are mounting up. That hat might come in handy if he ends up in a cardboard box.
RIHANNA BROKE?
We see her on the cover of damn near every magazine on the newstand but the former business manager of Rihanna is insinuating that the sultry wifey of Chris Brown might be in need of some financial assistance very soon. Patricia Williams who was up until very recently handling the singers financial arrangements was fired after Rihanna discovered only $20,000 in her account. Now PW is saying that Def Jam are not looking after Rhianna financially (surprise surprise) and all the money she makes from her endorsements etc are being spent by her manager on her albums and videos, without of course Rihanna’s approval. The trials and tribulations of being a recording artist today I guess.
LAST ORDERS
Things obviously aren’t working out for JD in certain areas of his business. The PSM (pint sized mogul) has had to shut down his Atlanta eatery Cafe Dupri which is located in the Buckhead region of the city. Word is though that staff were left without their money once the place closed. PSM must be saving for his wedding afterall.
