Things obviously aren’t working out for JD in certain areas of his business. The PSM (pint sized mogul) has had to shut down his Atlanta eatery Cafe Dupri which is located in the Buckhead region of the city. Word is though that staff were left without their money once the place closed. PSM must be saving for his wedding afterall.

Not quite sure what or who Diddy is doing over at MTV but they may as well give him his own channel as he has already another show in the works called Starmaker which will give a male and female artist a spot on the Bad Boy roster. Auditions are being held in Hollywood on the 6th of September for anyone interested.
See what happens when you hold your tongue after a Donald Trump reject tries to encourage you to run your mouth…the powers that be keep you on board for a year. Shock jock Wendy Williams has had the contract for her show which has been currently airing on Fox renewed until the end of 2009. Critics said that Williams might not work as well on TV as she does on radio, but ratings and Fox execs have obviously encouraged the syndicated TV station to keep the loud mouth diva around. Drama is always good for ratings.
Looks like that Vitamin Water deal really did pay off for 50 who landed in the number one spot for those getting paid in Hip-Hop list this year. He earned $150 mill in only 12 months. He might be a beast on the court, but it looks like Dwayne Wade is going to end up in court as his business partners for a chain of failed restaurants begin suing the Olympic basketball player for $25 million. The two business partners who had hoped to open up to 20 restaurants throughout America with the help of using D Wades name and having the Heat star turn up to the sports bars/eateries every year have since the first one opened done nothing but lose money. They are implying that this is due to the sport stars failure to honor his marketing and promotion duties which were allegedly included in the contracts drawn up when the company was founded. Better get your check book ready DW.
As he boasts about his so called sexual stamina in interviews, Diddy has welcomed back to his Making the Band crew the choreographer who he went to throw a chair at in the last series of the show..Laurie Ann Gibson. Chica is saying that it was purely a business move to go back to work with Diddy but it has probably put an end to the charges that she filed against him because of the altercation. The couple will be appear to reunite on the show next week. Get out the tissues lol. Is this down to ‘stamina’ or money I wonder
Is it a case of too little too late? Rapper Master P after being in the game for over twenty years is changing his name to P Miller. P has been doing his bit for Hip-Hop having already developed his Take a Stand label which promotes curse free lyrics with his son Romeo. The change in name comes about as the down south mogul has ventured off in new directions including teaming up with Wal Mart to promote an affordable fashionable clothing line. Wonder if this change of name will influence his brother C Murder.
No wonder this dude is looking so smug nowadays…word on the street is that Jigga is about to make himself a $44 million when he sells a 50% stake of his Las Vegas 40/40 club to the Las Vegas Sands Corp which owns a slew of hotels across the world including The Venetian in Vegas. Looks like Jay is cashing in his chips…wonder what he will be up to next. The deal would give the Sands Corp the right to build 40/40 in London and throughout Europe, where Jay was looking to spread his wings too next.
Yesterdays GUESS WHO was in fact Lil Kim, Turns out the (former) rapper might be taking a new direction for her somewhat stale career and is thinking about posing for the December center spread in Playboy magazine. This has yet to be confirmed by Kim’s camp but you have to admit, that check might be the best one Kim has seen in a minute.
Here is a brief update as to what our fave celebs are up to when it comes to their business. Sean Combs – He may be unlucky in love but he sure is successful when it comes to his smells. After the success of Sean John, Diddy has gone on to develop yet another fragrance. This one is called I am King…not too sure about the name, but then wasn’t too stuck on the shiny suits either but they def made a lasting impression. Beyonce – Shame Jayonce hasn’t had the success with her clothing line that her husband has had with his. Word is, House of Dereon is closing its doors and I can’t say I am surprised as some of the lines available from the Knowles women were not what you would expect from a fashionista such as Bey Z. Def Jam – Take away the new age King and Queen of R&B Ne Yo and Rihanna, Def Jam really isn’t doing much these days but to add a new twist to their marketing and promotions they are planning on utilizing the big screen to promote up and coming albums from their artists by previewing their videos before, during and after movies. I am sure Meth, the Roots and Ghostface are on the top of the list to recieve that extra boost. Lil Jon – The King of Crunk has managed to secure his masters in his new deal with Orchard, the company that bought out TVT earlier this year. Nice to see labels making situations somewhat easier for artists.
Looks like Usher realized that when its not broke, don’t try and fix it as he disbanded his team and brought back Momma to pull at the strings again. With sales for Here I am that nowhere near reflect the numbers Confessions did Usher has taken Jonetta Patton back on to handle management affairs for him once again. However the way the music sales are dwindling anyway, this is hardly surprising plus he had to deal with the premature leak of the album too. Usher also parted ways with his PR company W&W who handles artists such as Alicia Keys and Jermaine Dupri. The insinuated reason as to why Usher replaced his Mother in the first place was so she could be more of a Mom and a Grandmother to the singers first grandchild with wife Tameka Foster. Funny how money always changes things isn’t it?
Great to see Master P or Percy Miller getting the Key to Memphis this past weekend. Master P born Percy Miller has in his tenure in Hip-Hop given a lot of time and donated substantial amounts of money to community activism and philanthropic endeavors. It is these acts of humanity that encouraged the rapper to be honored by the city through Willie Herenton, the Mayor of Memphis at the recent Let the Kids Grow Day held in the Tennessee city. “No other rapper or entertainer is as committed to the community as Master P and I am proud of him,” said the Mayor when talking on the No Limits founder. “Master P changed his life and took the negativity out of his music but stayed true to the hood.” Master P and his son Romeo are very active in encouraging school children to stay in school to avoid the pull of street culture and lives of drugs and crime.
Texas Titan Slim Thug has left the confines of Interscope Records to head on over to Koch to deal with projects for his Boss Hogg Outlaws. The Still Platinum rapper who signed to Star Trak/Geffen back in 2005 to release his first major album, wants to be more hands on with his own imprint which will be distributed through Koch. The second album from The Boss Hogg Outlawz will be hitting shelves on September 2nd and is titled….Back by Blockular Demand.
Say it isn’t so. But fake reports are saying that the Nasti Muzik is somehow on the way to selling more units than Tha Carter III. First of all, are the people who are supposed to be tracking this album able to count past ten? A report has surfaced saying that Her Royal Nastiness sold 450,000 copies in the first day on shelves….hmmm yeah ok. Read for yourselves the lengths someone will go to to bring attention to a project that will be lucky to move a 100,00. If Khia does go platinum I will never say a bad word about the chick again and will spend the rest of my days running her fan club )) http://www.atrl.net/forums/showthread.php?t=58763
