With all this talk about a recession, this story might be kind of offensive. The Game and Bow Wow will finally see who’s the best “in the world” at Madden NFL ’09 for a $100,000 prize. The meeting is scheduled to take place from 6 to 8 p.m. at a secret location. They reportedly will have a weigh-in ceremony like a real boxing match hosted by hip-hop gaming company Konsole Kingz. Who do you have your money on (if you care)?

If I could give dude a break I would, but SRC fake – Konvict Akon had YET another altercation with a fan while at a show in South Africa this past weekend. The singer who decided to surf the crowd was being pulled at by a female fan who was a lil too pully (not a word I know but best I can come up with right now) when he smacked her into the crowd. I feel another law suit with his name on there coming up next.
Seriously to head to an Akon concert now you need to take out personal insurance when you buy a ticket.

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and her Republican supporters held back little Wednesday as they issued dismissive attacks on Barack Obama and flattering praise on her credentials to be vice president. In some cases, the reproach and the praise stretched the truth…
Looks like the classic Nas album Illmatic continues to weather the test of time against the cookie cutter albums and ringtone tracks the majority gravitate towards today. The debut album from the Queensbridge rapper which was released 14 years ago was one of the few to get five mics from the Source when five mics really really meant five mics. The album which featured production from legends, Pete Rock, DJ Premier, L.E.S and Large Professor is now the focal topic of a book by Eric Michael Dyson.
Expected to hit shelves in early 2009, the book will analyze and ‘re-articulate’ every track from the album which is considered one of the best Hip-Hop albums ever. Illmatic has been mentioned by various rappers since it was released including, The Game (of course), Just Blaze, Lupe Fiasco and Alchemist.
Eric Michael Dyson who was granted his degree from Princeton University is responsible for titles such as Holler If You Hear Me: Searching for Tupac Shakur and Is Bill Crosby Right? It makes you wonder how many of todays albums will be worthy of an accolade such as this 14 years from now.
To add to the promotion of Young Jeezy’s third solo album The Recession, which hit stores nationwide yesterday, he and his CTE label mates and staff will host a voter registration drive on Thursday (September 4). The CTE Voter Registration drive will be held at Sean “Diddy” Combs’ Justin’s Restaurant in Atlanta. In addition, Jeezy will also join in the process, by registering to vote for the very first time during this year’s presidential election.Additional reporting by Rashaan Meador
Looks like Young Buck is determined to make moves to ensure he stays relative now he is his own man and not part of G Unit. Buck is set to host the First Annual Tennessee Music Conference and Awards next weekend.
Tennessee which boasts acts such as Buck, Three 6 Mafia and 8 Ball and MJG and organizers for the event hope that like other areas and states which boast their own regional awards, this will also encourage better relationships for artists and professionals in the music industry to achieve their goals.
This Summer also saw the first Carolina Music Awards which celebrated not just Hip-Hop but all genres of music including pop and rock.
Bristol Palin, the 17-year-old daughter of Republican Vice President Nominee Sarah Palin, is pregnant and will keep the baby and marry the father. John McCain was aware of her pregnancy before he chose her mother for his running mate. This might be another strike at the reasoning and judgment of McCain’s controversial decision. They are obviously pro-choice, but they really need some lessons on birth control. Congrats!

Sen. Barack Obama laid out his plan to lead the country into an era of change as he accepted the Democratic presidential nomination Thursday night, (more…)
Today marks the 45th anniversary for the day Martin Luther King delivered his ‘I have a dream speech’ at the Lincoln Memorial during the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom back in 1963. The speech was without a shadow of a doubt one of the most poignant of the twentieth century and one which signified a defining chapter in th Civil Rights Movement.
Tonight will also see the new hope for America Barack Obama address the Democrat Party at the convention in Denver Colorado with his interpretation of ‘change’ and what can and will be done for the country with the Democrats at the helm once again. Last night Bill Clinton followed the precedent set by his wife and former runner in the race for the Whitehouse, Hilary, in declaring support for the Chicago Senator.
Brooklyn rapper Mos Def was a lil upset at Magic this weekend in Vegas and allegedly lashed out at someone who was just taking a pic of one half of Black Star. The victim who is pressing charges against the rapper suffered a cut to the eye as Mos yanked the camera out of their hands while happily snapping celebs at the notorious trade show which took place in Vegas over the last few days.
The infamous trade show is one of the most influential in the world where fashion houses display their new lines for the up coming seasons each August and February.
Mrs Clinton, who was given a standing ovation as she took the stage, thanked those who supported her through her primary campaign but said Mr Obama was now “my candidate”.

If you were at the Irving Plaza last night watching Game perform were in for a serious treat. The Compton rapper was obviously sending out a few signs with those who accompanied him on stage as he and his Black Wall Street crew celebrated the release of his third album LAX which hit shelves yesterday.
Game was joined by plenty of NY rappers including Jim Jones, Maino, Fat Joe, Raekwon and Ghostface Killah. But surprisingly enough I thought was the presence of Kool Herc who Game brought out on stage at the packed out show. Joe Budden was also in the house and of course so was the other G Unit member who jumped ship…Young Buck.
Just wouldn’t have been a show if the two out of towners didn’t mention former label mates 50, Banks and Yayo of course. But all in all a good night appeared to be had by all and Buck was quick to tell Joe he had no beef. So I guess 50 was really pulling strings on the Elephant in the Sand mixtape which was only put out a few months back where Buck openly dissed Joey Crack. Hmmm ok
It is close to seventy years since the Hollywood Palladium first opened its doors. The venue was the place that encouraged the careers of artists like Frank Sinatra and performers such as the Rolling Stones and James Brown as well as holding high profile parties for the likes of John F Kennedy and dare I say in the same breath as JFK, Paris Hilton and Lyndsey Lohan.
The 4,000 capacity venue was leased to Live Nation back in 2007 and the company decided to make some changes to the iconic venue in an attempt to restore the art-deco inspired building to its former glory. So who better to hit the stage on the opening night on October 15th but Live Nation’s very own poster boy Jay Z.
“Just as Frank ushered in a golden era, I hope this opening will mark the beginning of a resurgence in generation-defining live music,” said Brooklyn’s finest.
