Jackson 5 Reunion Tour In The Works?

By: Rizoh The Jackson’s may have found a means to renew cash flow in a family that’s been plagued by low record sales and scandals lately. Word has it that Michael Jackson was recently approached about a reunion tour with the Jackson 5 this summer. Sources say the pop superstar met with his siblings on Monday in Las Vegas. Sisters Janet and Rebbie, as well as Jermaine, Randy, Marlon, Tito and Jackie, visited Michael around 7:30 p.m. They then discussed the family’s financial situation and the fact that Jackson has so far been unable to get work in Vegas. Michael has been eager to re-launch his career since being acquitted of child sex charges in 2005. "A successful Jackson family tour could change everything for Michael," says celebrity gossip columnist Roger Friedman. "It would also be a financial boon to a family that needs cash in a hurry,” We can’t argue with that.

Bobby Brown Arrested…Again

By: Rizoh Bobby Brown, R&B singer and estranged husband of Whitney Houston, was cuffedand jailed inMassachusetts for failing to make $19,150 in child support payments to former girlfriend Kim Ward. Brown was served a warrant for skipping a child support hearing last October. The singer owes January child support payments to Ward, the mother of his two teenage children: Bobby III and LaPrincia.According to an Atlanta attorney, where Brown currently resides, the 40-year-old singer also owes constable fees and Ward’s attorney fees. "We’re diligently working on getting those funds available from outside sources," said entertainment lawyer Phaedra Parks, who added that she expected Brown to remain in the Dedham county jail until at least Tuesday. "Although this agreement was put in place when he was Bobby Brown the star, this agreement is being enforced when he is not always able to find work," she told the AP. "He hasn’t made an album in quite some years." Police arrested Brown at Attleboro High School where he was watching his daughter’s cheerleading competition on Sunday. Authorities said Brown was cooperative, so they allowed him to drive to the police station after the competition. Brown recently divorced from Whitney Houston after 14 years of marriage. And like that attorney said, he hasn’t been musically relevant in years. So, hopefully they’ll cut him some slack.

Scott Storch vs. Timbaland: A Producer Battle

By Quibian Salazar-Moreno Who really knows why it started, but Timbaland was the first to launch a couple of subliminal disses on his single “Give it To Me” featuring Nelly Furtado and Justin Timberlake. On the song, Timbaland, apparently referring to Scott Storch raps, “I’m a real producer, and you just a piano man/Your songs don’t top the charts, I heard em’, I’m not a fan/Niggas talking greasy, but I’m the one that gave them their chance…” Scott Storch responded with a track of his own with him actually rapping for the first time that we’ve heard. The song, “Built Like This”, has Storch clowning Timbaland’s weight, his partner Magoo and that Tim’s producing partner Danja made all his hits. Storch also has an unknown emcee, Nox, coming at Tim with some “you ain’t gangsta” and threatening him with physical violence. Word is that Timbaland also has another track on his upcoming album going towards Storch as well. Storch is losing popularity among the music industry. Even though he’s a proven hitmaker, he wasn’t invited to work on Beyonce’s last album, even though he worked extensively on her first album, and Christina Aguilera even dissed Storch on the song “F.U. S. S.” from her new album, Back to Basics. CLICK HERE TO LISTEN TO THE TRACKS

Wu-Tang To Rock Bells With Rage

By Quibian Salazar-Moreno In 1997, shortly after the Wu-Tang Clan dropped Wu-Tang Forever and while rap-rock band Rage Against the Machine was still promoting their 1996 release, Evil Empire, the two groups decided to co-headline a national tour. While Rage rocked on, Wu-Tang fizzled off the tour due to internal issues which was discussed in the film Rock the Bells. Now with a new album in the making, Wu-Tang has agreed to co-headline the Rock the Bells festival with Rage Against the Machine this summer. “It’s definitely our fans’ dream billing. It’s a tremendous honor to have Rage Against The Machine and Wu-Tang Clan perform together,” said event organizer Chang Weisberg of Guerilla Union. “I can’t wait to announce the rest of the line-up for Rock the Bells. It’s incredibly important to put some shine on quality hip-hop. The opportunity to galvanize the social and political consciousness of these groups is undeniable.” The Rock the Bells shows will take place in New York on July 28; San Bernardino, California on August 11; and San Francisco on August 18. The rest of the acts will be announced in March. Rage Against the Machine, who broke up in 2000, made headlines earlier this year when they announced they would reunite for the Coachella music on April 29. The 3-day festival sold out in 36 hours.

Diddy’s 12-Year Old Son Gets Lap Dances, Humps a Girl on Camera

By: Rizoh Diddy’s 12-year old son, Justin Combs, was captured getting a lap dance from an unidentified girl in some photos that have also leaked onto the Internet. Still on the topic of Diddy’s kid gone wild, a video which shows Justin bumping and grinding with his friends has found its way onto the Internet. In the clip, Justin and step-brother Quincy—Kim Porter’s son with singer Al B Sure—are seen dancing around with their friends for about 7 minutes. We waited till the end of the video to see if a responsible adult will show up to send the kids on time-out, but all we got was more images of Justin humping a teenage-looking girl and licking his tongue. Justin is Diddy’s son from a previous relationship with stylist Misa Hylton-Brim. Should Diddy be held accountable for his son’s actions? See the video for yourself:

Shots Fired at Trina’s Concert; 7 Wounded

By: Rizoh Violence seems to trail rappers everywhere they go. Trina is the latest victim of a concert-gone-awry, thanks to the gun shots fired after she arrived at a strip club for performance in Florida. According to Broward Sheriff’s office, a fight erupted at the strip club and shots were let off after 1.a.m. on Saturday. Law enforcement arrested a 17-year old man allegedly responsible for firing a handgun in the air. The trigger-happy juvenile was charged with discharging a firearm in public. Five people were treated and transported to North Broward Medical Center, according to reports. Two others arrived at the same hospital later unaided. All wounded victims were said to be stable.

Diana Ross’ Son, Evan, Taking On Hollywood

By Quibian Salazar-Moreno Even though he made his first movie, ATL, last year, 18-year old Evan Ross, son of Diana Ross is becoming a hot commodity. He’s starring in the upcoming film Pride with Terrence Howard and the HBO flick, Life Support, with Queen Latifah. He recently finished filming Gardens in the Night with Tom Arnold and Harold Perrineau and is currently filming Brooklyn to Manhattan, a film about four young escaping a botched drug deal through the subway tunnels in Brooklyn. If that’s not enough, the young actor has just signed on for roles in Burning Sands, a film about five friends forced to ban together as they embark on the treacherous task of pledging a historically black fraternity and Life is Hot in Cracktown, a film based on a book about stories of how crack cocaine has infiltrated the inner-city streets. Evan’s momma, Diana Ross was recently on “Inside the Actor’s Studio” giving much love to Evan for his upcoming work.

Shawn, Marlon Wayans Win Worst Actor Awards

By Quibian Salazar-Moreno On Saturday the 27th Annual Golden Raspberry Awards, or Razzies, were held at the Ivar Theatre in Hollywood. Although Sharon Stone and her film, Basic Instinct 2 took home four awards (including Worst Film and Worst Actress), the Wayans brothers took home three awards. Shawn and Marlon Wayans took home “Worst Actor” awards for their part in Little Man as well as “Worst Screen Couple” and “Worst Remake or Rip-Off.” Organizers of the Razzies say that the Little Man is actually a rip-off of the 1954 Bug Bunny cartoon “Baby Buggy Bunny”, where a pint-sized thug masquerades as a baby. "I will admit there is `so stupid it’s funny,’ but there is also `so stupid, get out of my face,’ and that’s what this movie is," Razzies founder, John Wilson told the Associated Press about Little Man. Other winners include M. Night Shyamalan (Worst Director, Worst Supporting Actor) for Lady in the Water, Carmen Electra (Worst Supporting Actress), and the Robin Williams film RV (Worst Excuse for Family Entertainment). For more information, check out RAZZIES.

Redman Ready to “Go Wild” on March 27th

By: Rizoh Red Gone Wild, the long-awaited album by Redman, has been in the works for about 5 years now. It’s been delayed so much, to the point where rap fans wonder if it’ll ever see the light of day. The good news is that Def Jam has issued an official release date of March 27th, 2007 for Red Gone Wild. Erick Sermon, Scott Storch, Timbaland, and Rockwilder will lend production to Red Gone Wild. Special appearances by Redman’s cousin Method Man (of the Wu-Tang Clan), Erick Sermon and Keith Murray, Snoop Dogg, Nate Dogg, and Biz Markie are in place. The Timbaland-laced first single, “Put It Down,” has been making rounds on the internet lately. It’ll be officially dispatched to urban radio on February 26th. After releasing his gold-certified 5th album, Malpractice (2001), Red kept busy by making TV appearances. He co-hosted “Stung” and the forgettable FOX sitcom “Method & Red” with Method Man. Since then, he has also dropped two solid mixtapes: Ill At Will vol.2 and Live from the Gilla House.

Saigon: “I Will Lyrically Destroy Prodigy!”

By: Rizoh Now, we know Prodigy (of Mobb Deep) is a certified trash-talker. Well, P’s basket mouth got the better of him in a recent interview with Allhiphop. The G-Unit rapper made it clear that he dislikes Saigon and every other rapper out there. “I don’t like nobody really. I’m biased. I only like Mobb Deep sh*t. Everybody else could suck my d**k,” Prodigy told Allhiphop awhile ago. As you might suspect, those statements didn’t sit well with Saigon, who has a long-running subliminal feud with Prodigy. Saigon, in his own interview with Hiphopgame.com, said he would rather beat Prodigy like a piñata than haul verbal slugs at him on wax. “I wasn’t mad that he said he didn’t like me,” said Saigon in the interview. “But every real n***a knows you don’t invite another n***a to your d**k. That’s fighting words. You might as well say you want me to punch your face off when I see you. I’m not going to run into the booth and make a Prodigy diss and I would lyrically destroy Prodigy. But if we run into each other and he doesn’t have ten security guards or a pistol around him, I will beat him like a piñata. Just for that “suck my d**k” sh*t.” Saigon also questioned Prodigy’s street credibility. “You can’t be a popular rapper and a gangster out busting your hammer and still be around this long. Nah, that doesn’t make sense. 2pac was like that. He’s dead now.” And rap beefs just keep getting cornier…

Jesse Jackson: ”Hollywood is All Day, All Night, All White”

By Quibian Salazar-Moreno Even though Eddie Murphy, Jennifer Hudson, and Forest Whitaker are up for Oscars this Sunday, Jesse Jackson isn’t satisfied with what he’s seeing in Hollywood. Back in 1996, Jackson protested the Academy Awards because of the lack of melanin being nominated. Now Jackson wants to remind folks that just because there are a few people of color nominated for Oscars, everything isn’t equal in Hollywood. "While I feel joy for those outstanding performances, my concern is that people will take these as a substitute for progress," Jackson told Daily Variety. "We want to keep the light on unfinished business. It’s really an issue of infrastructure. The voting doesn’t at all reflect the current reality of the population." According to Jackson, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, the folks who vote for the Oscar winners, needs to be expanded to include more African-Americans than the current 110 of 5,830. Jackson is in L.A. this week to begin planning an April conference to face this list of issues, according to Variety: Hosts on many cable networks are nearly all Caucasian, or as Jackson puts it "All day, all night, all white." Minorities have limited access to jobs at major talent agencies. Casting of minority actors remains a problem, Jackson noted, pointing to a UCLA study by Russell Robinson, released in December and showing that found 69 percent of Hollywood roles were reserved for white actors.

Dreamgirls Desperate for Media Attention?

By: Rizoh Dreamgirls, which failed to earn a nomination in the most important Oscar category of Best Picture, is now making desperate attempts to saturate headlines with trivial press statements, as the Oscars’ big night draws near. Dreamworks Pictures, the folks behind Dreamgirls, want you to know that the musical is a work of fiction and should be regarded as such. Just in case you didn’t realized this from reading the disclaimer on the movie, Dreamgirls is a work of fiction. This work of fiction also pays homage to Motown. Dreamworks also want you to know that they “used many wonderful accomplishments that belong to the rich Motown history” in the movie. “For any confusion that has resulted from our fictional work, we apologize to Mr. Gordy and all of the incredible people who were a part of that great legacy. It is vital that the public understand that the real Motown story has yet to be told.” Ok, now that’s something we can all agree on.

Black Eyed Peas’ Engineer Killed by Drunk Driver

By: Rizoh Ethan Willoughby, the Grammy nominated audio and mix engineer that helped shape albums by Black Eyed Peas, Busta Rhymes and Destiny’s Child, was struck and killed by a drunk driver in a car accident last Sunday (February 18th). Willoughby, 30, earned an engineering and production degree at the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences in Tempe, AZ. He was mentored in music training by famed engineer Dave Pensado before making the transition to lead engineer. Mr. Willoughby would go on to work with Busta Rhymes, the Game, Brian McKnight, Common, Mya, Lionel Richie, Justin Timberlake, and Christina Aguilera. The Black Eyed Peas’ Will.i.am, who established a relationship with Ethan Willoughby while working on a remix of Bob Marley’s “Africa Unite,” described him as “one of the nicest, kindest people that God blessed us with.” “Ethan was one of the few people I trusted with my music, to mix it and make it sound perfect,” said will.i.am. Willoughby was nominated for Album of the Year at the 49th Grammy Awards for his work on Justin Timberlake’s FutureSex/LoveSounds. Justin expressed sadness over the loss of his friend and collaborator: "I am deeply saddened by this loss. Ethan Willoughby was not only an amazing talent in the studio, but also an amazing person. We will all miss his presence and his love for music. We love you dearly, Ethan and we will carry on your love for what we hold so dear. A true gift to our industry.” Ethan is survived by his wife, Stephanie Cooper-Willoughby and daughters, Ava and Mycheala. He also left behind sister, Catherine; and parents, John and Barbara Willoughby. A memorial will be held in his honor at Morning View Studios in Malibu, CA on Saturday, February 24th at 11 AM. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the friends and family of Ethan Willoughby.
