By: Rizoh 50 Cent (real name Curtis Jackson) recently urged XXL magazine to pull a feature on his former manager, Chaz "Slim" Williams, founder of Black Hand Entertainment, according to Radar. Though the story ended up going to print as scheduled in the November issue, Williams claims the incident is proof that 50 has fabricated large chunks of his crack-slinging, gun-toting biography. "I’m one of the individuals that really knows the truth about him," Williams said to Radar. "So I would imagine he wouldn’t want his credibility tested. I guess he just didn’t want to face the truth." The article on Williams was designed as a response to a cover story on 50 in the September issue of XXL, where the rapper claimed he came strapped to a peace talk with rivals from Murder Inc., and suggested that Williams had foreknowledge of a previous attempt on his life. When 50 Cent learned of the follow-up story, he called XXL editor in chief Elliot Wilson and demanded the story be scratched, according to Williams, saying Interscope Records would pull its ads otherwise. Williams says he was contacted by someone at the magazine wondering "if there was an alternative they could use, like maybe put the story on the Internet," he recalls. "I said, ‘I need the same platform he has. I can’t keep having him come up and say things that aren’t true." Williams also claims that 50 had embellished his past with lies. "He knew I had the truth about what happened back then, and if you’re lying about the past, why would we believe what you have to say today?"

By: Rizoh Eminem has been cleared of all charges, after a domestic violence investigation involving the 13-year old niece of estranged wife Kim Mathers. Although, the niece claimed that Eminem (born Marshall Mathers) poked her in the head and threatened to kill her for hanging up the fun on him, Macomb County police didn’t find enough evidence to warrant an arrest for misdemeanor domestic violence. According to The Macomb Daily, the investigations ensued from an argument Em had on September 24th with his niece. Eminem, who is the midst of divorce proceedings with Kim, yelled, "I’ll kill you," and grabbed the girl’s cell phone as he left the home that Sunday. Eminem also made a reference to Kim Mathers while scolding the girl. "Don’t you ever hang up on me again," the girl quotes her uncle saying, in a written statement to police. "The next time you do you won’t have anything at my house and will never see me again. And you wanna know the reason I left your aunt was because she had hung up on me." The girl argues in the police report that Eminem "was poking me in the head" and moments later raised his hand "as if he was going to hit me." Investigators from Macomb County Sheriff’s Office and county Prosecutor’s Office agreed that Eminem’s actions did not necessitate an arrest warrant for misdemeanor domestic violence. "There were no injuries and nothing to give an indication of a domestic assault," Macomb County Sheriff Mark Hackel said. "We don’t think there was any intent to hurt her." James Langtry, chief of operations at the prosecutor’s office, said Marshall Mathers did not receive any special consideration due to his celebrity status. "We treated it as any other criminal allegation brought to us," Langtry said. "There was insufficient evidence to warrant any criminal charges."
By Quibian Salazar-Moreno Queen Latifah announced that there’s less than a month left to nominate women who you think are inspiring women by helping them gain confidence and self-esteem through community education, fund-raising, self-empowerment and volunteer programs. Latifah is working with the Curvation Confidence Awards, a program that recognizes women who personify and project the power of confidence. November 3 is the deadline for nominations which can be submitted toCurvation. "I was extremely inspired by the entries we received last year of extraordinary women who were, and still are, making a difference in other women’s lives everyday," said Queen Latifah, who is also the spokesperson for VF Intimates’ Curvation brand of intimate apparel. "I am thrilled to be able to honor more unsung heroes and I encourage people to nominate the remarkable women they know. I was taught to believe in myself at an early age by strong, independent women like my mother and grandmother, and want to pass this message on to others. Building women’s confidence gives them the strength to live more fulfilling lives.” Five finalists will be chosen by Latifah and a panel of experts. Each finalist will receive a $3,000 grant towards their program or cause that they work with and one national award recipient will receive an additional $10,000. All the finalists will be recognized at a luncheon in New York hosted by Queen Latifah in early 2007.
By Quibian Salazar-Moreno Ever since Tichina Arnold was lobbing one-liners as Pam on Martin, fans knew she had a slick singing voice. Arnold even helped out Tisha Campbell when she dropped her solo debut. Now that Arnold is the momma on the hit show Everybody Hates Chris, she been getting offers to finally put her voice on wax and make the next hit record. She began working on an album, but because of music industry politics, opted out. "I’m no longer working on an album,” Arnold told the L.A. Daily News. “I don’t like the music industry. You have no control, it’s no longer creative … Everything you try to do turns into something else. [But] When God gives you a gift, you need to get it out. I have to give it that much respect — to do something with it. [So] I started a band called No Pressure; and that’s just what it is, no pressure. I’m so excited about it. Between the band and singing in church I get my rocks off. We’re going everywhere from New York to L.A." Arnold said the music from No Pressure will range from R&B to rock to reggae with cover songs and originals. Keep an eye out for the band, but you can catch Arnold every Sunday on Everybody Hates Chris.
By Quibian Salazar-Moreno Even though Ice-T is now more known for his acting than his rapping career, he’s still an O.G. and a bunch of 7th and 8th graders are getting firsthand rapping lessons in the new VH1 series, “Ice-T’s Rap School.” The difference is that these kids go to Manhattan’s upscale York Prep and don’t know much about the foundation of hip-hop and the culture it was created in. Ice will also teach them how to rhyme, timing, scratching and b-boying (break dancing). The kids will then record their songs, take a final exam on what they learned and audition to open up for Public Enemy at B.B. King’s in New York. A sneak preview of the show will air on Tuesday October 17 after the 3rd Annual VH1 Hip-Hop Honors, which is also hosted by Ice-T. On Friday October 20, “Ice-T’s Rap School” will premiere with two back-to-back episodes.
By: Rizoh We’re talking about an unlikely collaboration between Crunk ‘N’ B princess Ciara and G-Unit General 50 Cent. In a bid to add some kind of flavor to her song "Dope Boys," which appears on the forthcoming sophomore set Ciara: The Evolution, Ciara tapped 50 Cent to bless the track with some 16s. "Rodney Jerkins produced it and I think it’s going to be a big record. The way he laid his verses is crazy," Ciara told MTV News recently. "Promise"—a mid-tempo ballad laced by Polow da Don ("London Bridge")—is the lead cut from Ciara’s new longplayer. The music video for "Promise" is expected to debut on October 25, while Ciara: The Evolution is slated for release on December 5, 2006.

By: Rizoh New York rapper Jadakiss was arrested for weapon and drug possession on Saturday (September 7th), according to The Associated Press. The rapper born Jason Phillips was one of four people inside a 2006 Toyota Camry stopped by Yonkers Police department at about 4:30 a.m. The officers noticed that the vehicle’s driver was behaving oddly, and noticed an odor of marijuana as they approached the car. Jadakiss and the three other men–Darnell Frazier, Benjamin Lockhart and Kristian Smith—were all charged with criminal possession of a weapon when a loaded .38 caliber revolver, which had been reported stolen, was found inside the vehicle. The LOX frontman was also charged with possession of marijuana, while the driver (Darnell Frazier) was charged with driving under the influence. All were then remanded to Westchester County Jail where they’ll be held until at least Tuesday (September 10th), when they are slated to appear in court. Drug and weapon possession busts are nothing new to Jadakiss. In July, 2004, Kiss was arrested on charges of marijuana and gun possession in North Carolina when he was in Fayetteville for a club date. He reached a plea agreement the next year on the misdemeanor charges and paid a $900 fine. Police recovered less than an ounce of marijuana and two loaded .45 caliber Ruger pistols from the rapper’s vehicle in that incident.
By: Rizoh Hip-hop’s most solicited hook-man Akon has set a new record in the 48-year old history of Billboard charts. His new single "Smack That" (featuring Eminem) flew from No. 95 to No. 7 last week, achieving the highest climb since the inception of the Billboard. The song’s leap was fueled by its No. 6 debut on the Hot Digital Songs chart with 67,000 copies sold. The "highest climb" record was last held by Vanessa Hudgens, Andrew Seeley, and Zac Efron’s "Breaking Free" which rocketed 86 to 4 back in February. "Smack That" is the lead single from Akon’s forthcoming sophomore album, Konvicted, which drops on November 21, 2006.

By Quibian Salazar-Moreno EA Sports, Reebok and Champs Sports have come together to make Jay-Z a playable character in EA Sports’ NBA Live 07 exclusively for the Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3. The catch is you have to buy a pair of Reebok’s S. Carter Basketball IV shoe only at Champ’s Sports, which hits stores on October 11, to get a special code to unlock Jay-Z’s character in the game. "I always want to reach out to people in new and ground breaking ways and this collaboration with Reebok and EA does that by combining several things important to me: basketball, gaming and footwear," Jay-Z said. "NBA Live has always been one of my favorite games and I’m excited to play the latest edition and to be a part of it." Jay-Z’s character in the game is a bit of a fantasy. It’s modeled after a combination of some of his favorite players: Allen Iverson’s baseline to baseline quickness, Baron Davis’ above-the-rim hops, and Peja Stojakovic’s downtown shooting ability; making Jay-Z one of the most skilled characters in the game. The code also unlocks Jay-Z’s S. Carter All-Stars squad and a special S. Carter/Rbk basketball court.
