This year’s Internet Week kicked off on Monday May 14, 2012 and to celebrate, Mass Appeal and LastFM hosted an official first night after party at the Tribeca Grand in NYC. Internet Week New York is a week-long festival celebrating NYC’s thriving internet industry and it is now in its fifth year of operation. On Wednesday May 2, 2012, Rick Ross filled the conference room at the Eventi Hotel in midtown Manhattan to hold a press conference and make some major announcements on behalf of Maybach Music. Rick and Diddy first announced that French Montana’s album, “Excuse My French,” will drop on July 17th. French’s next single will reportedly feature Rick Ross, Drake & Lil Wayne. It was also announced that Meek Mill’s upcoming mixtape, “Dreamchaser 2” will drop on May 7th and be followed by his debut album, “Dreams & Nightmares” on August 28th. Rozay also announced that the MMG compilation “Self Made v.2,” will drop June 26th and then announced that his next solo album “God Forgives, I Don’t Will” hit shelves July 31st. After weeks of speculations, Ross also announced the latest signee to MMG – Omarion. This needless to say announcement came as a surprise to most. On Saturday April 28, 2012, EA Sports partnered with Virgin Gaming to celebrate the success of FIFA 12, Madden 12 and NHL 12 by hosting a tournament for dedicated gamers at Terminal 5 in New York City. The tournament was hosted by Gerard “HipHop Gamer” Williams. Following the tournament, Jadakiss and Just Blaze took the stage for a set of special live performances. On Saturday March 17, 2012 iHipHop, Babygrande and The Madbury Club put on a one of a kind SXSW showcase at Haven in Austin, Texas. Thousands left happy after witnessing the legendary GZA of Wu-Tang Clan perform alongside Grammy Award winning Latin funk band, Grupo Fantasma (Brownout). In addition to this monumental performance, Jet Life, Marz Lovejoy, Flatbush Zombies, T. Mills, The Airplane Boys and Mod Sun all took the stage to deliver incredible showings, while DJ Statik Selektah held down the wheels of steel for the evening. Last night (March 20, 2012), the Wild Boy himself, Machine Gun Kelly celebrated the release of his Half Naked & Almost Famous EP in NYC at the Hiro Ballroom. MGK played host to a packed crowd as he performed some of his latest joints and also had some surprise guests show up including French Montana and Travis Porter. On March 15th, an official press release went out that day and Reebok announced they’ve teamed up with Rick Ross, Mike Posner & Tyga for their newest campaign “It Takes A Lot To Make A Classic” (Tyga was unable to attend due to his tour schedule but is apart of the campaign). The campaign will highlight Reebok’s “Icon” footwear, Ex-o-Fit, WorkOut and Freestyle, while celebrating its rich history as The Classics brand.
Stalley enjoyed a solid run in 2011 with the release of his third mixtape, Lincoln Way Nights (Intelligent Trunk Muzik). He hopes to keep the momentum going this year with the release of his next project, Savage Journey to the American Dream which will drop March 30th. Yesterday (March 12th, 2012), Stalley made his way to the Beats by Dre flagship store in New York City to put on display his latest work.
