There’s something to be said for a 19-year-old artist who has a sense of his place in time, and a sense of time in general. Joey Bad starts this video with “vintage footage” (if there can be such a thing for a teen rapper) and then transports himself into the antiquity of rap that he loves so dearly. He mighta translated even better on analog and VHS.
Is Callius Moon a disturbed individual with a comedic side or does he just have a penchant for hip-hop that defies logic? In one of the most bizarre courtroom defenses ever caught on camera, Moon, a Detroit resident accused of threatening to kill his girlfriend, took the stand to show off his impressive off-the-dome vernacular. Surprised by what he heard, District Judge John Chmura told Moon “that’s good” and actually admitted to being impressed before asking Moon if he will require a court-appointed attorney. Family members of Moon, who also faces charges ranging from destruction of police property to disturbing the peace, claim that he suffers from mental illness. Declaring, “I don’t take no orders from no women,” Ihor Stetkewycz became a viral phenomenon this weekend when he was confronted by ABC 7 news in Detroit about dumping large amounts of wood in the middle of the road. This has absolutely nothing to do with hip-hop, but it’s definitely entertaining.
After a couple of solo releases, the members of Das Racist come together again over Kendrick Lamar’s “The Recipe” instrumental for “Gwyneth Paltow.” Instead of shooting a video, they included a trippy clip of two men with clay faces. Enjoy.
This has to be one of the craziest, most random meeting of the minds put down on wax as of late, but don’t judge a book by its cover … or a record by the fact MTV’s “From G’s to Gents” RiFF RaFF is on it. I give anything with Action Bronson — and most recently Harry Fraud (who produced this jam) — a spin, but I honestly wrote this off as soon as I saw the Albanian spitter Tweet about it this AM. But what do you know? It goes hard and somehow works.
