It’s finally Friday, which means two things: the weekend is almost here, and there’s another loaded slate of fresh new music. To prepare you for the two-day respite, DJ Forever Cold is back once again on this “New Music Friday” to present you with the updated Forever Cold❄️ playlist — a curation of the week’s finest drops.
It seems like competition is in the air, as a collection of the industry’s most prized artists have come through with releases today. Headlining the 2/5 Forever Cold❄️ playlist are: Freddie Gibbs x ScHoolboy Q, Polo G, Cardi B, and Pooh Shiesty.
Kicking things off with a bang, two of hip-hop’s most authentic rappers, Freddie Gibbs and ScHoolboy Q, have united on the former’s standout track, “Gang Signs” — the two’s inaugural collaboration. Rapping over a laid-back, jazzy instrumental, the two reflect on their storied pasts and connect over being kindred spirits. “Gang Signs” was also released alongside an animated music video, directed by Aaron Hymes and illustrated by Gabriel Alcala.
Next up, Chicago’s Polo G adds fuel to his fire by dropping the infectious new single, “GNF (OKOKOK).” The standout midwestern MC attacks the up-tempo production with purpose, as he slices through the zealous beat with a serrated flow. Polo G has delivered another gem to his decorated collection.
Heading up to New York, Cardi B is making a splash with her anticipated new single, “Up.” In classic Cardi fashion, “Up” is a boisterous track that is trending towards becoming an anthem. “Up” marks Cardi’s first song of the year; it follows the widely-discussed “WAP” collaboration with Megan Thee Stallion.
Last, but certainly not least, Pooh Shiesty, one of 1017’s hottest burgeoning artists, has supplemented his exponential rise by releasing his brand new album, Shiesty Season. Coming in at 17-tracks, the Memphis rapper uses his new project to continue asserting himself as a must-know name in the game. Shiesty Season features 1017’s godfather, Gucci Mane, Lil Durk, 21 Savage, Tay Keith, and more. The Gucci-assisted “Ugly” has made today’s Forever Cold❄️ list.
