Rocky ushers in a new sound for himself.
On-brand for A$AP Rocky, he has departed from his typical sound — one that refuses to be singularly classified — to link with English record producer, BURNS, and R&B/pop songstress, Sabrina Claudio, on “Energy.”
A fitting title given the upbeat sonics provided by BURNS, “Energy” is a dancy, soon-to-be club hit that recruits vast instruments — including horns synths — to structure the textured musical playground for Sabrina and Rocky to play with. Like two kids at elementary school recess, Rocky and Sabrina seem to be having the time of their lives.
Matching the energy of, well, “Energy,” Claudio and Rocky dial-in some uptempo vocals that melt into the dynamic production. With the former handling the hook duties and the latter doing the verse lifting, they leverage their distinct, unique talents to create a comprehensive, palatable track.
