With his single ‘Ice Cream Paint Job’ reaching the #42 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart, he furthers his cause by releasing his debut album, Dorrough Music.
Handling most of the project alone, recognizable features come in the form of fellow Texans like Lil Flip and Slim Thug. [Click for Slim Thug interview]
Dorrough uses ‘Boy I Grind’ as the introductory song to the 15-track offering, and explains how his hustle game is a 24/7 operation.
From there, Lil Flip co-signs the crazy female tales of ‘She Ain’t Got It All.’ Some of the highlights on the album include contributions like ‘Never Change,’ and ‘Flashout.’
Slim Thug makes his appearance on ‘Piece & Chain Swagin,’ and with such a title, it’s not hard to figure out what the topic of discussion is.
Other pieces of music constructed by the 22-year-old are songs like the shameless self-promotion of ‘What’s My Ringtone,’ the Chopped & Screwed-influenced ‘Trunk Bang,’ the relationship drama of ‘This Time You Was Wrong,’ and the obligatory “getting money” song in ‘A Whole Lotta.’
When it comes to Dorrough’s Dorrough Music, the youngster squanders the chance to be creative and unique, as he plays it safe using the same ideals that many of his peers have ran into the ground already.
Filled with simplistic rhymes, repetitive production, and less-than-exciting concepts, the newcomer’s introduction to the world sadly falls on deaf ears. Maybe when it’s time for his second go-around, he’ll show a lot more improvement, but you only get one chance to make a first impression…
