Alicia Keys appeared on the Today Show with Kathie Lee and Hoda Kotb to disscuss her new single “Doesn’t Mean Anything” and of course got ask the question everyone really wanted to know; how she felt about Lil Mama ruining her and Jay-Z’s finale performance at the VMA’s. She tried her best to avoid the questions, saying: “I rather not speak about it ’cause the performance was so phenomenal that it really doesn’t matter about anything else.”

Then Kathie Lee and Hoda hit her with the “But we love Lil Mama” talk, to which she replied “That’s nice!”

Keys finally spoke out on how she really felt and said :”We can appreciate her being overwhelmed and inspired but we would’ve preferred she did it from her
seat.”

She tried to bring the interview back to the importantance of her single with Jay-ZEmpire State Of Mind” , that appears on his new album the Blueprint 3. “Jay-Z and I are both native New Yorkers. It’s kind of a classic New York song almost like new Frank Sinatra, Liza Minelli, I don’t know. Just a beautiful New York record, I love it”, she said.

We all know about the song and think it’s great, but honestly we really just wanted to see her go Serena Williams and curse Lil Mama out.
