An Arizona judge has hit Lil Wayne with a bench warrant for failing to appear in a court hearing for his drug and weapon charges. The 27-year-old hip-hop star has a good excuse, though. He is already in jail in New York.

Although his alibi was real, Superior Court Judge Mark Wayne Reeves still issued the warrant on Tuesday.

The case stems from a January 2008 arrest when police allegedly found cocaine, ecstasy, marijuana, and a 40-caliber pistol on his tour bus during a routine border check. He had pled not guilty to the charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, misconduct with weapons, possession of a narcotic drug for sale, and possession of dangerous drugs.

His lawyer James Tilson tried to have the March trial date delayed for a year, since, obviously, Lil Wayne cannot attend while he is serving his 1-year prison sentence in New York.

The prosecutor’s office in Yuma County has increased the rapper’s bond from $10,000 to $150,000, No new trial date has been scheduled yet.

Lil Wayne is currently serving in Rikers Island after he pled guilty on attempted criminal possession of a weapon. This is so retarded because the fact is he is already in jail should be known nationally!
