Andrew Dawson, the multi-platinum-selling, multiple Grammy Award-winning producer, audio engineer, and mixer extraordinaire, has forged close professional relationships with some of the music industry’s biggest hip-hop and pop stars and helped to produce some of this generation’s most massive genre-bending hits.

Dawson has worked with an impressive group of A-list, chart-topping recording artists in his own studio (Dawson’s SoundEQ in Hollywood, CA) and in major studios around the globe including, but not limited to, R&B/pop superstars John Legend, Ne-Yo and Beyonce, rap/hip-hop superstars Common, Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, and T.I. pop/rock superstars Michelle Branch, Third Eye Blind, Kimbra, and Fun., and most recently P.O.S., The Morning Benders, and Pet Shop Boys.

However, Dawson is probably best known as lead mixer and audio engineer for hip-hop megastar Kanye West, one of the most successful rapper-songwriter-producers of all time (with whom Dawson has worked for eight years). Dawson has earned songwriting and production credits on many of West’s albums, including a co-production credit on “Power,” a track off of the recently released and critically acclaimed album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.

Dawson is now a three-time Grammy Award-winner and six-time nominee, winning Best Rap Album for Graduation, Late Registration (Kanye West), and most recently My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. Other Grammy nominated albums that feature Dawson’s contributions include Jay-Z and Kanye West’s Watch the Throne, Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter IV, Beyonce’s 4, and Big Sean’s Finally Famous. Regarding his Grammy nomination, Dawson says, “Each project seems to raise the bar higher than the last. Each new artist pushes me harder as I push back on them to be their best.”

After attending Boston’s Berklee College of Music, Dawson interviewed with several high profile New York City studios, including Hit Factory, but eventually took a job at Sony. From there, Dawson quickly transitioned to a freelance engineering and mixing career around the various NYC studios, and has now called LA home for the past 4 years. “To be a part of creating music and sounds that are a part of people’s daily lives, is beyond exciting, and a humbling responsibility,” Dawson says.

Now, in continuation of his incredible journey and evolution as a producer, Dawson has stepped out solo to produce the new albums from indie rap phenom P.O.S., indie rock outfit The Morning Benders and world-renowned electronic dance duo Pet Shop Boys. Release dates TBA. “Year after year of working with some of the most talented and creative musical minds keeps me constantly on my toes. Pushing myself harder every day to grow as producer, engineer and musician, there’s 1000 lifetimes worth of things to learn.”
