This was a light week for releases… a lot of stuff got bumped to 9/1.  The next couple of weeks are going to be big, with Jay, Beans, Raekwon & more.  Speaking of the new-new from the Chef… who do you think is going to have the better album (not sales, but quality, music, listenability, etc.)

Music festivals on the decline
It’s been a rough year for music festivals, in the 40th anniversary of Woodstock, it seems that the culture is shifting, or is just the recession, and that people don’t have $100+ to drop on a day+ of music?

Vevo (hulu of music) is trying to raise $30 million… cash

The Joint Venture site that is being billed as the hulu of music is seeking to raise a ton of cash.  FYI, Hulu raised $10 million in an initial round of financing, with a valuation of their company at $100 million, so with the valuation for Vevo at $300 million… we should be seeing some big risk-takers getting out there on this one

Rollingstone to take control of .com
For the past 10 years, RollingStone has let wiser heads (Real Networks) run their website, figuring that the tech savvy company would keep them from making beginner mistakes.  Now, they’ve finally realized that, hey, these paper magazine things are dying, and people are still getting their news and music content on the web… maybe we should look into taking back control of our webiste?  Brilliant.  Let’s look out for this in the coming months/year and see if in fact a well respected bastion of journalism can survive and thrive online…
