Back in November, Mike WiLL Made-It enlisted perennial talent for the official Creed II soundtrack, Creed II: The Album. The industry’s best and brightest decorate this lengthy, mood-capturing project, receiving features from Bon Iver to Young Thug, from Nas to Quavo. Among those included are J. Cole and his Dreamville signee, Ari Lennox, on the seventh track, “Shea Butter Baby”.
A smooth, soulful offering, “Shea Butter Baby” is a romantic song that discusses love’s captivating ability to manifest itself at any turn–foreseen or not. Today, Ari and Cole have brought the sultry song to life by dropping off the official video.
While Ari remains the video’s protagonist throughout, J. Cole offers another perspective on love that is weaved beautifully into both Ari’s lyrics and the Interscope Records-produced visual to provide a balanced narrative.
