In an ocean of bubbling artists, it is difficult to stand out. Artists copy each other’s styles, ironically lose sight of themselves in the process, and fail trying to regurgitate a formula. Such is the case for a lot of Atlanta upstarts — but not Quando Rondo.
The 20-year-old burgeoning MC has managed to transcend Atlanta’s vast competition to assert himself as one of the more promising rappers of his class. Dropping single after single, Quando Rondo adheres to his city’s assiduous mentality by flooding the market. Today, he adds to that swelling collection with his new single, “Collect Calls.”
Demonstrating his conceptual versatility, Quando cathartically speaks on some demons by singing and rapping about imprisoned friends, drug use, and more. He proudly wears his emotions on his sleeve, and the result is an honest product with a fresh sound.
