Big K.R.I.T.’s Returnof4eva has been getting more burn as summertime approaches. It’s rich with bangers and reflective records prime for the change in weather. However a certain track off the album titled “Another Naive Individual Glorifying Greed And Encouraging Racism” has been getting tons of play since the free LP hit the internet. K.R.I.T. explained the song’s direction with Good*Fella Radio. The piece, if you haven’t heard it, chronicles three individuals who subconciously and knowingly live and act out the stereotypes set forth on young males.

Rappers often times don’t make candid, well thought out records like “Another Naive Individual…” even on their free projects. It’s execution, much like the rest of K.R.I.T.’s catalog, works quite well in that it’s presentation doesn’t try to go over your head or beat you down with his stance. K.R.I.T.’s point of view on such matters is presented plainly but with conviction so, odds are, you’ll respect his opinion even if it doesn’t align with yours.

The interview talks also about how difficult it is for upcoming artists to stay on the straight and narrow when fame calls. K.R.I.T. isn’t a star but he has the potential to be more visible. Additionally, he already has tons of songs basking in the typical ballin’ ass rapper lifestyle and addressed its downsides “American Rapstar”. So, in a way, the last verse of “Another Naive Individual…” plays like a foreboding “what-if” scenario to those thinking he’ll flip if his time comes.

K.R.I.T.’s got an EP dropping June 7th titled Return Of 4 Eva: The Prequel. It seems counterproductive to put out tracks on sale that were and still are readily available for free. Unreleased or new material from K.R.I.T.’ would obviously be more appropriate but I guess you gotta get paid somehow. Nevertheless, Big K.R.I.T.’s been an artist on the rise for some time. Hopefully he’ll keep the ball rolling when his major label debut drops.
