If anything, quarantine has proven how adaptable human beings are. Last night, the NFL held a virtual draft, one in concert with both NFL Network and ESPN; people everyday are conducting work meetings through video calls; media outlets, like Genius, are still producing content. And the artists — the artists aren’t allowing corona to inhibit their process.
Previewing a collection of new songs for fans, Chance the Rapper has been releasing snippets on his Instagram over the past couple of days. From seemingly fleshed-out singles to piecemeal approaches, Chance is taking this time to continue feeding his rabid fanbase.
So far, the transcendent Chicago talent has released six “Instagram Songs,” as he calls them, one of which features vocals from Daniel Caesar. His most recent one dropped earlier this afternoon.
This virus has tested a lot of things: our emotional endurance, our spirits, our sanity. But one resoundingly beautiful product of this mess is humans continuing to move forward, to advance in the face of uncertainty, to regain control when it feels like it’s been stolen from us.
Chance isn’t allowing anything to hinder his musical output.
