Chance the Rapper gained notoriety thanks to his groundbreaking debut mixtape, 10 Day. While his musical cachet has only deepened over his impressive rise, culminating in three 2017 Grammy Awards for his acclaimed Coloring Book album, he’s leveraged this outsized success for tangential entertainment opportunities. Most recently, Chance starred in the new horror movie, Slice.

Directed by Austin Vesely, the mind behind Chance’s “Sunday Candy” and “Angels” videos, Slice centers on the mysterious murders surrounding pizza delivery boys. With the help of Chance, who plays a werewolf named Dax Lycander, and his cohorts, they ban together to solve these killings.

Starring alongside Chance is Atlanta’s Zazi Beetz, Paul Scheer, Rae Gray, Hannibal Burress, and Joey Keery. Slice was originally teased nearly two-year-ago, and can now be viewed on iTunes and other streaming platforms. Special one-night showings aired in cities across the US, and the cast did a live Q&A in Chance’s hometown of Chicago.

Given Chance’s remarkable success so far, it’ll be interesting to see if he can make the transition to the silver screen, and have the same impact that he’s enjoyed musically.
