Griselda Gang — the trio comprised of Conway, Westside Gunn, & Benny The Butcher — is in the midst of celebrating their inaugural posse release, WWCD. A group dedicated to returning a vintage flavor to hip-hop, Griselda’s debut album was a well-received endeavor, showing that one doesn’t need to adhere to trends for career advancement. Doubling-down on their stylistic ‘90s homage, the group recently enlisted Hype Williams to direct the “DR BIRDS” music video.

A hip-hop music video trailblazer, Hype Williams is not only a visual pioneer, but also a cornerstone of hip-hop culture at large. Through his vision and innovation, Hype is responsible for such classic videos as 2Pac and Dr. Dre’s “California Love,” Biggie’s “Mo Money Mo Problems,” Missy Elliot’s “The Rain,” and plenty more. Throughout his tenure, Hype’s cultivated an individualistic style — one that Griselda is proudly continuing.

Just like their music, the “DR BIRDS” visual is drenched in gritty and ominous vibes, shot largely in black-and-white while adhering to unmistakable Williams stylistic signifiers: close-up shots, blank backdrops, and scintillating visual effects.
