Guess Who’s Back? Scarface Returns With His First-Ever Mixtape

Remember when Scarface announced his retirement after 2008’s Emeritus?  As if nobody saw it coming, Mr. Face pulled a Jay-Z on the world, as evident by his announcement of his first mixtape in his twenty-plus year career.  As Scarface told MTV today, “I’m a free agent and I’ve always wanted to drop a mixtape on my own, [so] I just drop an independent mixtape.”  Judging by this statement, I can only assume Face is no longer associated with Rap-a-Lot or Asylum Records.

Prior to the release of Emeritus, Scarface told the media that he was interested in pursuing a musical career beyond Hip Hop.   Not only does Scarface explain his ability to read sheet music in the video below, he actually plays the blues guitar proficiently…left handed!  “Guitars, drums, keyboards, singing,” Scarface explains, “it ain’t sh*t for me to do that on stage.”  Maybe we’ll hear some of that on Mr. Scarface’s next project.  Look out for Dopeman Music dropping sometime this spring.
