Our musical introduction to Jaden Smith has been sparse yet interesting. With a collection of loose singles, an EP, and Avantgarde music videos, like “Batman”, we’ve received a preview into his musical mind without fully deciphering it: he’s odd, talented, artistic, slightly tortured, and insightful. These auditory bread crumbs have been leading us towards his true musical unveiling, his debut album, Syre, due out this Friday. Recently, he dropped off the album single, “Falcons”, featuring Raury.

A dichotomy of sounds, bookended by frantic production and Raury’s calming presence, “Falcons” is what we’ve come to expect of Jaden without fully being introduced to his musical aesthetic: interesting, curious. It piques our interest without fully explaining the puppeteer pulling the strings.
