Off his forthcoming album, Redemption.

TDE’s unsung hero, Jay Rock, has existed at the label’s margins ever since the posterboy, Kendrick Lamar, erupted to superstardom. With most of the group’s other members, mainly SZA and ScHoolboy Q, following K. Dot’s lead into the limelight, Jay Rock has become the family’s neglected child. One of the label’s most polished rappers, Jay is keen on changing the narrative with his upcoming album release for Redemption, the successor to his 2015 standout project, 90059. Today, he’s given fans a further look into what’s to come with the release of the album’s second single, “The Bloodiest”.

“The Bloodiest” follows Jay Rock’s energetic victory anthem, “WIN”, the first album single, and shows the Watts-born MC refining his pen game to efficiently describe his harrowing street tales. A stark contrast to “WIN”, “The Bloodiest” trends more melancholic than uplifting, and is a gritty portrayal into the unforgiving streets that raised Jay Rock.

With two strong releases under his belt from this forthcoming album, Redemption is poised to command attention in the face of competing releases–mainly Nas’ Kanye-produced album, which is dropping the same day: June 15th.
