As previously reported, Jim Jones has been teaching a class at Grand Street Campus High School in Bushwick, Brooklyn.  The class, Music Business 101, is taught to about 25 students ranging from grades 9-12.  Jim apparently breaks the class down into specific groups, each representing a branch of a major record label i.e. Marketing, Legal, Promotion, Artwork, etc.

As a constant student of music business myself, I think it’s awesome that Jim is taking some time to give back to the kids by teaching them about this difficult industry.  It’s not an easy business to learn, and it’s constantly changing, so it’s cool to give these kids an early look into how it all works, which is nothing like what you probably think.    Check this video coverage of the class.
